I was impressed with Burke in the press conference that just finished...seemed to be giving reasonably honest answers! And took the blame for the lack of wins!

Cannot say much nasty that he wants to say anyway. Because still getting paid by them. In time...things will come out. ALready we are hearing that in his first or second meeting with the new Maple Leaf Board after the sale to Bell etc....he was cursing a blue mean streak. In front of a bunch of conservative businessmen.....SO that would be a beginning of not being liked. APparently he was chastised in the meeting, and um.....did not take it well. Something along the lines of "Of for eff sake, this is hockey. Get used to it.

The news that alot of people in Quebec were waiting for is finally out. Gomez contract will be buy out at the end of the season and Bergevin asked him to stay at home and not around the team anymore.

This move should have never been done if it wasn't from that stupid trade a while back.

This may be grieved by NHLPA (Redden as well) as he is perfectly healthy to play. I highly doubt it will be though, because he is still getting paid to stay home this year. It is actually in his best interests for future to stay home and not play anything seriously.....because then he can get bought out and move on to a new deal with someone else for less dough. Still going to get a ton of money out of the buyout and get to play somewhere where he may be wanted. Same for Redden.

Well after an investigation on what the Habs done to Gomez, the NHLPA and the NHL agreed that buy out contracts can now have a "faster buy out". So before the season starts saturday the Habs can buy out Gomez so he will become a UFA and play this season.(if someone wants him) I think it's a wise move.

However..Montreal and the Rangers will still suffer the full cap hit for those players this season. Just allowing the $ to go to the guys early, and not have their careers ruined and destroyed further than already are. If those two did not play for a full season...they would never ever get back to the show.
Now..Wade and Scott can go out and get league min deals and play for someone in the show. I think the ISles need dmen...they keep picking up scrubs on waivers. And lots of teams are scrambling to get small formerly decent Centres to play on a checking line. Oh wait....that is not what Gomez is...he's a playmaker, point machine, goal scorer right? From his stats looks like a Manny Malhotra type.

Meh..Flyers still suck. Giroux collapses under pressure of the captaincy, and scores only 30 points this year. Well...the likely groin injury won;t help any...even with 30 he may still lead the league. Because they all gonna have injuries.

So good to see that the Bruins suck. Too bad that Looch is pulling his Tkachuk and Buffy/Wellwood impression though.

LOL on Philou. Yeah...him and Pierre lebrun are both from there. I expect a downfall for Vancouver an uprise in Edmonton.
Also up in St Louis, down in Chicago and Detoilet.
LA will be strong, trouble in Dallas and Phoenix
Philly will be down, Rangers up, Pittsburgh way up.
Washington way up, Carolina up...Florida down. Tampa will win the division though.

He still got the name and the heart of a Quebecois. He doesn't look much like an Ontarloser.

Leafs have traded Lombardi to Phoenix for a conditional 4th round pick in 2014, (pick becomes 3rd round if Lombardi resigns). Also Conolloy has been placed on Waivers.

Both suck so really not a big shocker to me. The shocker is Calgary put BOTH their candidates for back up to Kipper on waivers today. Henrik Karlsson and Leiland Irving. I hope both get claimed and the Phlegms get themselves in big trouble. They won't but that would be awesome. Calgary may be using Barry Brust. LOL>

I'm impressed Nonis was able to get a pick for Lombradi, I knew Conolloy would be worth nothing. So if both Karlsson and Irving are waived who is thier backup? The Flames are going to really bad for a while very soon (not that they've been good lately)

One of them will likely be backup if he is not claimed (Karlsson most likely as Irving has been horrible in AHL this year in his very few starts...Flames had three goalies in AHL). The other thing is though.....I think that they like Barry Brust a ton. He has been very good in AHL this year, including breaking a very old (JOhnny Bower) AHL record for longest shutout string. Flames may sign him to a deal in next little bit if they lose one or both of these guys. Also a kid named Naylor or Taylor with the Heat who has performed well.

Galchenyuk and Gallagher will stay with MTL for the beginning of the season. Gonna be interesting to watch both of them playing. I'm not sure though about letting Galchenyuk with the team. Losing one year of his rookie contract on half a season sucks IMO but he's still too strong for the OHL but can't play in the AHL.
