Contract Glitch

Post by xalcyx »

Not sure why I really noticed this now, but has anybody noticed when you sign a player to a contract midseason, with the intent of him joining at the end of the year, it makes you sign him on for the current season as well?

Example: Looking to sign a guy who's rights I hold, it's Feb in the 2006 season. Contract date is set to start at like June 20, 2006, meaning he gets paid for the 05/06 season, even though he joins after the draft and essentially does nothing. The other problem with this is it limits the number of years I can put on their contracts, because essentially even though I sign him to a 3 year contract, I only get him for 2.

Does anyone else notice this, and if so, does anyone know if this specific issue will be fixed by the next version?

I think this is typical. For instance I'm paying E. Malkin almost $900,000 this year to play in Russia. I won't get him until the next internation transfer at the end of the season.

the other issue is that in real life, if u sign a player to a rookie contract and then send him back to juniors after less than 10 games, he does not lose a contract year. This does not apply in EHM. Hopefully things like this are fixed.

I find you can make it work to your benifit. For instance, Mike Richards signed a one year deal overseas so when I offer him a contract I offer him almost 5 million for the first year (the year he wont be on my team) and 3 million for several years after that. :-p
