Is there anyway I can challange other teams to preseason games? (instead of always waiting for other teams invitations.)

Yup, there sure is. In fact, I schedule all of my preseason games so they'll all be home games. I don't know if we make an money for preseason games but just in case we do, I figure it would be best to get the ticket sales for them.
To schedule preseason games follow these steps. From the roster screen, click SCHEDULE on the left. Click the ARRANGE button on the upper right and choose Home, Away, Tour, or Tournament. Go through the available dates it list. If you're playing the NHL, I usually schedule a preseason game every other day from around September 15th through October 1st. Choose a date and click NEXT. From this screen, you can pick the team you want to play against. Then just click the INVITE TEAM button on the lower right. Once you do that, you're all set. You'll get a message the next day saying they accepted.

You can use this to sneak your camp attendees into some NHL level action if you schedule them early enough, so you can see how they'd play in a more 'real' game. Just check your camp schedule for one of the days there won't be a scrimmage first. That gives you an even better picture of how they'll do for your team/what their potential is
