Salary cap and floor
Is there any punishment in the game for being below the salary floor or above the cap? I have a big contract player I want to get rid of but it'd put me well below the floor.

Re: Salary cap and floor
You will not be able to participate in a regular season game if you are over the cap or below the floor (NHL).

Re: Salary cap and floor
That's weird, AI teams seem to be able to break the cap and still play?
Also how would you get around that, signing players isn't instant so if you're below the floor and don't have any high contract players to call up then...?

Re: Salary cap and floor
I never tried it cause I don't see the point of playing below the floor, assuming the team would be very bad ... But I don't think a team would be allowed to play if they were below the floor. I know for sure you cannot play a SEASON game if over the cap. You are allowed over the cap during off-season and pre-season.

Below the floor you play and get fined or something at end of year. Not sure that is in this version yet. Above the cap should not be able to play. So do you have screenshots on same day of a game of a team over the cap and still playing? That would be a huge issue.

Per game fine? Or just a pre-determined fine? Possibly still works out cheaper for my team!batdad wrote:lemming3k wrote:That's weird, AI teams seem to be able to break the cap and still play?

I'll see what I can find, it won't have been much over the cap and possibly only for one game.

Re: Salary cap and floor
This is something that needs to be resolved. There is no roster limit and salary cap in the play-offs but in the game, the cap is still an issue. I had this issue with a player (Zuccarello) coming back from injury during the play-offs, I take him of IR and I am over the cap and cannot continue without waiving a player and demote him first.

Maybe just throw the word out on the Sport Interactive forum :
http://community.sigames.com/forumdispl ... rly-Access
There shouldn't be a salary cap restriction for playoffs.

Re: Salary cap and floor
I got 1 question, when EHM with 15.3b updater, if my "Total Player Salaries (p/a)" is above 69mil exceed the cap floor, I can't move to next match unless I reduce it but now with 15.4b updater, the latest one, mine cap is 16.7mil, and I still can proceed to NHL games.
It is a bug? or something?

Re: Salary cap and floor
Can someone help me understand this cap thing. I'm like 15,000 dollars over the limit right now. Yep.
What I don't understand is how these 2-way contracts work. I always thought when a player is in the NHL team his entire contract count against the cap, but when sent down to AHL you only pay something like 15% (or whatever you negotiated in his deal). Take as an example: I have a player on a 2-way deal. His contract is at just above 1M I belive, in his contract screen it says something like 1M/150,000. When I send him down, it does nothing to my cap space. Is it supposed to be like this?
Another thing that doesn't make sense to me when browsing the Salary Cap Chart is that while this guy on a 2-way has the same pay when sent down (counted against the cap). A player up in my NHL team with a 1-way deal has a red X, which should mean he isn't counted against the cap. I'm so confused right now!
I've never really payed enough attention to the cap as I've rarely been over the limit in the past, now when I am I can't seem to understand how it works.

Re: Salary cap and floor
I'm no expert on the cap either, but a 2-way contract affects what the player gets as a wage, not the cap hit. He gets more money when he's in the NHL, less if he's at the AHL team. And as far as I know, sending a player down should affect the cap. But it's somehow calculated as an average. If a 1 million dollar earner spends half of the season at the AHL level, and is then brought up, the whole 1 million will not count against the cap.
Something like that...

Re: Salary cap and floor
Hmm I understand. Think it makes sense, think I remember something about the average. In this case I think it was the game that glitched up on me though. I had just started the new season and when sending the player down, it did nothing for my cap and the one way contract guy on my NHL squad wasn't counted against the cap. Just fired the game up again and saw I was under the limit now.
Checked the cap screen again and now the player sent down isn't counted against the cap and the player in the NHL squad is however. Strange. But I will check closer next time I bring a player up and see how the cap is handled then, need to figure it out for future money issues which I know will likely arise again.

Re: Salary cap and floor
Are you in the off-season or has the season already kicked off? In the off-season the game counts the top 23 players towards the cap, whether they are in the NHL or AHL. So sending someone down would not alter the cap numbers in that case.saberhagen83 wrote:Hmm I understand. Think it makes sense, think I remember something about the average. That's the only valid explanation that I can think off...

Re: Salary cap and floor
I had just started the season, playing 3 games. I was still over the cap limit when I saved and shut the game down. Came back later and loaded it back up to find that it was about 1M below. No idea what happened in the game, but it fixed it self with a restart apparently.Tasku wrote:Are you in the off-season or has the season already kicked off? Re: Salary cap and floor
I think in general ALL contracts count against the cap, by sending guys down you get a cap relife of something like 900k from his cap hit no matter how high his salary is. 2 way contracts shouldnt have any effect on the cap hit, ist always the full NHL cap hit mentioned int he contract but generally it should be less than 900 k so basically if you send a 2 way player down he will always be completly off the books.

Re: Salary cap and floor
I think you get cap relief up to 1 mil, and anything over that you have to pay against the cap, even if they're on 2 way contract and in the AHL - I don't know if there are exceptions though, so maybe the 1st player over 1 mil is ok, but you only get relief on the others.
