My first and 2nd line are playing too many minutes

Post by HockeyFanactic »

My first and second line are playing 27 minutes and my defenders are playing 34 minutes. What can I do to get my players playing realistic minutes?

Have you tried changing Forward and Defensive usage at Tactics?

Look at your box scores- how many of those minutes are at even strength, how many on the PP and how many on the PK? It's possible you just have them playing too many roles.

If you really want them on the special teams, move them down on the regular lines. Or, reduce their special teams load. EHM doesn't really let you play guys in all three phases and keep under a half hour.

I'm no expert on hockey stats but my forwards played APPT:5 minutes-4 minutes APkt is 2.5 minutes which i guess would mean there average time on ice at even strength would be 20 minutes. So my question is why did this happen and how can i get it to normal? The year before I had my head coach setup my lines and kane played 26 minutes. This year 27 when i set it up. I had kane playing every pk pp1 and line 1. Do I need to go into tactics and set it to use unit tactics and adjust their shift length? If so how many seconds do i put it for each shift?

Ya..with EHM it is hard to have a guy play on all three top units and end up with realistic ice time. I would as in your example...take KAne off the PK completely. I never play my first line guys on the PP1 AND PK 1 ... just one or the other. Usually leave my top scorers off the PK entirely.
