What would be your ultimate EHM mod?

Post by BlackCats101 »

What would be your ultimate EHM modification?

I personally would like the sounds to be easily modded, so that you could have clips of recognisable music (or your own collection) playing at the beginning of the game and at puck drops etc. Also it would be nice to have a wider variety of crowd noise as the game is played. FM is ahead of EHM in this regard.

What sould be yours?

I would love to have a flashing goal light accompanied by a rousing horn when a goal is scored. I love the horn that the Blackhawks use.

It would be nice to have team specific goal horns.
The passing soundbite is giving me a headache too. Put together the sounds are like those on the old megadrive nhl games :D

And was it just me, or do you get the goal horn and cheering going off even when the away team scores?

BlackCats101: Do talk about a EHM07 modification? or about a further version?

For EHM07,i'd love more sounds and horns, yeah. It becomes a bit boring by the time with those sounds,so i turned the sounds off and play my own music. Fans noise should be better too. It's always the same exclamations, and the noise is the same,no matter how many people came to the game...

For a further version,i think the most important modification should be the practice. The schedules system isn't a bad one,but i'd love to have a huge number of possibilities, being able to make my players practice on very specific matters, like passing (instead of working all the off.skills at the same intensity). I'd also like to have more possibilities for the choice of the intensity.

In fact,i'd like the practice have the same step forward that the tactics had! :-D I think that, actually, practice is the less detailed area of the game...

if I could pick one feature I would say for them to make a Database Editor for the Mac. but also include it in the game like FM so you don't have to download it seperatly.

At first, I was gonna say: a super-realistic looking 2D rink, with already placed team logos at center ice, in the same way the real team has their logo painted.

But now that Mark brought it up... I think my answer is: a full-blown editor that's able to change/edit most of the data in the game, as well as add new custom stuff.

Honestly sounds to me are super low priority :dunno: If I want sounds I put on a console game; I am if I 'watch' a game in EHM watching at a faster speed than the sounds work on anyway so it's a zero factor for me and has rightly I think not had a whole lot of resources put behind it which is why the system is fairly basic right now.

Also cross-comparisons between FM and EHM are really like comparing apples to oranges since FM has a decade of development and a team about 10 times the size of the EHM team behind it. It's Riz, Graeme and EdL part time this go round with Ter borrowed from FM for a week to rework the skin.

For me it would be an easier skinning system as things have just gotten more complex and harder to figure out actually from 05 to 07 and the game does a lot of annoying things where elements are auto generated and overlayed etc which makes them difficult at best to actually change and look decent. The development process involves far too much "hmm okay so what happens if I make this piece bright green? Oh, okay so that changes that piece, got it. Wierd. Okay. What about this one?" trial and error to figure out.

But again that is due to the system being created by Ter not by the development team and the only thing that will actually change it would be if they had a graphics person on the team which they don't unfortunately and I can only pull off so much during testing :-D

I am kind of a part time EHM graphics consultant during testing :-p But I can only make suggestions and the actual game graphics are done my Ter at SI but he's a "borrowed" member of the Football Manager team when he works on EHM so that's why I say they don't have a graphics guy on the EHM team.

I understood ;)

But i think they'd better a first liner graphic guy to their roster :-D But of course you're not a free-agent,as TBL owns your rights :-p

darn right! We'd expect several draft picks and several high-calibre prospects in return for the Graphics Godfather :-D

You'd better say to everyone that he is just untouchable! :-D

Well,if they succeed in giving us Gretzky and Lemieux as consultants, maybe will take a look on their offer...but nothing less! :-p

My ultimate EHM07 mod would be a mod that have the correct attributes for all players, coaches, and non-player personnels. But I dont really expect anyone to actually make such a mod. Keep in mind that this would be my ULTIMATE mod. :-) I guess I'm just tired of seeing absolutely ridiculous changes in attributes (especially for coaches) everytime you start a new game. For example, Ian Clark, some of u may heard of him: he is considered a very good goalie coach (per Pierre McGuire from TSN) now working for the Nucks. But a lot of times I will see him having a very low coach goalie attribute, which Bryzgalovs me off. Sorry, just want to let out my steam. :-D

Correct attributes?...it's always subjective...and it's hard to say that this or this number is the right one,the one which correspond to the real skill of the player...

However,i agree that some players/staff have ridiculously wrong attributes...

Yes, its always subjective. I wont argue a Kovalchuk's wrister from 20-17 but what I mean is the correct attributes as in at least you get a sense of what kind of player he is. For example: say a prospect is more defensive than offensive, I would like to see their attributes showing a "defensive trend". Such as their checking, hitting, or positioning has to be at least a bit higher than their offensive categories so u can get a sense this guy focus on defensive side of the game. I often see players that arent 'big name' players got attributes that will make me scratch my head. I'm not concerning about the EXACT value of a certain category; what I was saying is that their attributes should at least show what type of player he is in real life. :-)

...and i agree with you on this point, thecoolstuff ;)

However,i won't blame too much the guys who done the database,as it's a huge and difficult amount of work. It's more easy to correct it than too make it. ;) And the ones that make it are too deep into the making process to see some mistakes... And without them, there would be no game at all! :-D

But i agree some tweaks have to be done ;)

I'm bored (AKA Come give me ideas for addons to make!)

Post by inSTAALed »

I'm bored.

I have free time this weekend because I'm sick...

If someone can recommend me a nice idea for a new add-on (I couldn't care less which(just not a facepack(please not a facepack))) I will make it.

I am that bored...

I wanna get back on the scene.

I also want a partner in crime. If you want to work together on some addon, just let me know.

I'm so bored right now I can't form coherent thoughts.... you guys don't want that do you? :-o

Well...

Something that isn't already being worked on.

Don't wanna steal the spotlight from someone... unless it's like backgrounds or something like that.... or a skin... :dunno:

Here's one:

a config. file that would hide player attributes.

If you get one, expect a few hundred million dollars in a box made of solid gold coming your way.

Elaborate.

I probably missed it while I wasn't here for 2 months.

Yeah, I've been tossing the idea around the past 2 days.

I know Catchup is working on a skin right now. I want to see how it turns out. :-D
