I am Washington in the pre-season the second year. I was thinking about Semin, while superb off. he is absolutly horrible on def. It's not his job to help out in the defensive zone but I thought, maby it would be a good idea to have him on intense defensive-trainig. I have him on intense on off-skill, skating and shooting and it has worked out nicely:
He has lost 1 point in
Strength
Positioning,
While adding upp 2+
acceleration
balance
speed
wristshot
stickhandling
deflections
passing
slapshot
1+
stamina
deking
Do you think it's good idea to have him train on his defensive skill? Or is it just a waste of time?
By the way, it's a little fweird that he lost 1 point in strength but compensated with 1 pointgain in balance...(!)
EDIT: Hehe I just realized his form was steadly decreasing 10-9-8-7-6
I find that with VERY one demsional players, like Semin, its probably ebtter to just keep his good attributes up, and pair him with somebody that can cover for his weakness's. (ie. when I played Washington last year I put Semin on a line with John Madden, the combination of a soley offensive player and a mostly- definsive player balanced each other out to make a good line.)
Also, tactics-wise, put him on easy backchecking and have him very offensive minded. Think of him just waiting at the opponent's blue line looking for the home-run pass.

Change blue line to redline and you have Pavel Bure
I was referring to he could only wait at the redline/midline because in his playing days it was more than decorational and he'd have to hover there instead of the opponent's blueline so he wouldn't get called for a two line pass.

It might hurt if his offensive attributes start to drop. Semin is apparently never going to be a defensive stalwart so don't bother training his defensive attributes. The best he's likely to get is around 10 or 12 in each and that's really not helping you a great deal on that side of the puck. Just make sure he's not killing penalties.
10 or 12 in his defensive skills??? In 10 years, maybe... :k
Even if you set him on an intensive defensive practice, he will progress really slowly, and you'll loose some roome of fast and easy devellopement on his offensive skills and shooting. Furthermore, as it seems it hates to defend, his morale risks to fall down.
hi guys, i have some players with low physical skills (for example stamina 6) and very good technical (all over 16). they are young around 20-21 and they train general, but they just don't seem to up their physical att. and if i try to put them on physical training as it is by default, their technical skills start to decreas. so i'm wondering is there a way to increase both physical and technical skills? players are young and with lots of potential. and this generally counts for all players actually that have the same problem. is it ok if i make a training plan that contains both physical and technical training on intensive? any tips?
