Freeware on Mac

Prior to the development of Eastside Hockey Manager by SI Games, the game was a one-man freeware project by Risto Remes. This forum is the place to discuss any aspects relating to the freeware edition.

Freeware on Mac

Post by naran »

Just wanted to post this here for the record books in case anyone googles the question themselves. If you ever wanted to play the EHM Freeware version on a Mac, PlayOnMac works with basically 100% functionality (just use PlayOnMac to run eastside_setup to create a virtual drive, and then run the Visual Basic exe inside that virtual drive), the only hiccup is that clicking on a player's name in the News pages doesn't open up their profile; but you can still search for them and get to their profiles that way so it's only a minor inconvenience. I could not get this to work for the longest time but now that it does I am having a blast once again!

Thank you for sharing. This sort of question comes up every now and then but with few people with a Mac able to answer.

This is great to know. I used to recommend stuff like Wine that parallels Windows. Never heard of this PlayOnMac before.

I've been playing on/off with it for 6 months now, gotten through a few seasons with no real problems. I think right around the time of my initial post PlayOnMac lost compatibility with the latest Mac OS, but that seems to have been resolved (I haven't updated myself so I can't confirm)
