AI releases players

Hey all, been a long while since I have been here but still playing EHM every day. So I have a question, when I go on vacation I set it to not allowing the AI to make player adjustments or roster moves, but time and again, like just happened, the AI will release one of my players, in this case it was a goalie whom I wanted to bring along and develop. My roster was not over the limit and either was my salary cap, the AI just decided it didn't like my young goalie.

Thus, does anyone know why this is happening and is there a way to stop it? :rant:
