They're only woo-hooing because there is a new patch out. I don't think they've read the SI boards yet.

This is devastating. I just can comprehend this at this point. I really don't know what else to say.

Yeah, I read the story... Are they really stop the developing of further EHM versions or is it "just" a thought to do so?

Yeah I'm afraid the development teams have taken different roles at SI and there is no more development of ehm. At least they are still with SI. Really though they would need to be convinced it is worthwhile to do the game again and really unless sales of ehm 07 were to suddenly pick up this is unlikely. I just hope we as a community can stay strong together and show SI and anyone out there that an Ice Hockey manager game is viable and lessons can be learned from this.

Well. What a lame beginning to the day. This is complicated for me because I don't necessarily oppose piracy (and I have well-informed reasons not to which I won't go into now), but I'm talking more about music and movie piracy where the producers of content are going to be just fine without a few extra CD sales. But now I hate piracy! I was hoping it was April 1st or something but it's not looking good. I can't help but think this might not have happened if they released hard copies that were more difficult to crack...I get what they're saying about making it easier to meet the bottom line going exclusively digital but I think SI Games could advertise their products more--I have no idea how my old man found out about this game and recommended it to me. I also know dozens (literally) of people who would LOVE a game like this but, similarly, had no idea it exists...er, existed. But then advertising is expensive and not necessarily viable. And the system they had to protect the download version was pretty good from what I understand. Still, I guess I'm stuck on the concept because the impact of downloading music on CD sales is statistically equivalent to ZERO (again, I'm coming from a well-researched place here), so maybe....I dunno, I'm just rambling. People do this when they're in grief. Forgive me.

If some dork wants to pirate something, no matter what...some dork will pirate it...Frigging dorks. I hate dorks. Here is to hoping the patch is perfect. Databases can be dealt with, coded bugs can not.

thundercleese: you're darn wrong about the downloading music thing! I'll just take the example of France, where internet and illegal downloads became easily accessible to nearly everyone at a cheap price around 5 years ago... In those 5 years, the number of cd sales get a drop of 60%! That's not what i'd call "statistically equivalent to zero"...

Of course, famous bands still sell a lot and have no problems to live from their music. Same for famous movies, big video games, etc. But many bands (including some friends of mine) stopped playing music because of the illegal downloads. For them, less sales equals not enough money to live, which leads them to find a job, and so they don't have enough time to work on their music. They should have become famous if things weren't what they are.

Some ideas of movies will never come to life, because the guy that had those ideas have seen his last movie over-pirated, and so he doesn't have enough money to make the new one.

In the same way, EHM should have become a very popular management game, given the time... But now we know it will never.

By the way, the day when piracy will have kill all the music, all the movies, and all the video games, what will they have to download? They are just killing creativity. :bs:

Let's keep the discussion of the end of EHM to the EHM Dies Thread. I'm going to close this thread because we don't need two threads on this topic.
