Saved Games

Post by V4ND3RP00L »

I have the EHM 2007 game on 3 different computers in my home and I was wondering if it is possible to move one saved game from one computer to another.

I tried this a few weeks ago and it wouldn't let me do so, because of some database error.

So here is what I'm sort of guessing and I could be wrong and if I am, please tell me.

Would I need to set the options on the other computers just like the one that I got the saved game from or would I need to upload more than just the saved game to my computer? Such as doing the database as well or what?

Thanks for anyone who can help and if this is in the wrong section of the forum, I'm sorry about that. Kind of new and just trying to figure things out.

As long as you've got the same version of the game installed on all your machines, I would think you could move save games around as much as you want. If you're running different versions (or patches) of the game - that's where you could run into database errors.

Hope that helps - if not, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in soon. Minty or Archi??

Cheers.

Well I will make sure that all of the versions are updated with the new patches and so forth and then try it out to see if it will work.

I think that the comptuer I was trying to upload to wasn't updated with any of the patches that were previously put out. So maybe that was the problem, but I'll check it out and be sure to report back with what happened.

Thanks for the help.

You shouldn't have an trouble playing on different machines as long as they are of the same version so yeah get them all updated

Saved games are not backward compatible. So if you save a game using 3.0.3 then it won't work if you copy it to a computer running an earlier version. That could explain why you're getting error messages. As everyone has said, make sure all of your computers are running the latest version

I updated all of them today. I also did see that there was no problem with saving my game on one computer to a disc and then uploading it onto the other computer to continue playing it.

Thanks guys!

I have transported saves on a thumb drive between two computers before. It should be okay as long as they're the same version. Just copy the whole folder for the save you want to take.

I use EHM 2005 - if I drag my saved game file to a memory stick, reformat my computer, reinstall EHM, and put the game save back in the right location. Will I lose anything?

I've done it and dont think I do, the game works fine. I am just not sure where the game saves things like scout reports, I know where it saves tactics.

You're fine as long as you copy the save file. I do it all the time.

Hey.

So I've got this saved game which crashes Wednesday 16th September 2008. I think I've tried everything I can, but it still crashes. Small things such as planning new pre-season games and taking a vacation etc. do not work. I don't have any backup files from an earlier date in the game either. I posted a link on a Swedish site before with the db in it, to see if it miraculously would work for someone else, but same thing.

So this is a long shot. Is there any hope for my saved game or is it just for me to finally give it up?

The db if anyone would like to try someting...: http://rapidshare.com/files/363688701/N ... 8.zip.html
