thanks to sjsharkz help in more getting the hang of this game. still have a few things to iron out like the rush.
as far as i know its when players make a dash for the other teams goal to get 3 on 2 or some other miss match. anyway the question is , is it worth setting centres and wingers to join the rush ? i assume the would be getting forward anyway. also my defensemen push up to the other teams blue line without the rush being set to on .
sorry if the question seems a mess.
another question on the basics, the rush

The rush is basically the hockey equivalent of a fast break in lacrosse.
It's the period after a turnover when you try to get the puck to the other end ASAP.
Really you only need to set defensemen to join the rush since forwards do it anyway (at least they should...). For example, Buffalo and Carolina both like to run a very active defense in the offensive zone.

As mentionned, a rush is a fast counter-attack after a takeaway or an opponent turnover. As the aim is to go fast in the other end, i usually set my fast players (aka 15+ in acceleration and speed) to join the rush. Sometimes, a rush needs one or two crucial pass, so i only send guys able to make at least a decent pass (12+ in passing). At last, i never ask defensive defensemen to join the rush. They are excellent defensively, could maybe contribute offensively, but a rush is mainly a very offensive-minded play, and so defensive-minded players are unlikely to be the best features in a rush (at least, in my team
).
Hope that helps
