Biggest contract you've handed out?

Post by Systemfel »

Thought this would make a fun topic...

What's the biggest (cap hit, length, whatever) contract you've ever signed a player to?

I cannot afford to pay top dollars to all my stars, :dunno: so the only one who has such a contract is Alex Ovechkin - $5.8 for 2 years, cap hit - $6,16M and he rejected the same conract with NTC!

My biggest contract was a 2year/16 million$ contract.
But the player then had an average year so he went out the door.
Plus i had many pospects coming up so needed the cap room.

I needed a quick turnaround after a disastrous first year with the Isles. Comrie and DiPietro both got hurt, and I went from being 2 games over .500 and overachieving to finishing 24th in the league. So via free agency I locked up Marian Hossa for 3 years at $8.1 million per. Got Daymond Langkow cheaper and after being picked dead last in the preseason, I'm currently 2nd in the conference about 1/3 of the way through year 2. Hossa has been a beast for me too.

Only my first season so far. Biggest contract is Peter Forsberg: $ 6,250,000, three years. Or as they say in the media 18,750,000 for three years. 8-)

My first line is: Ovechkin - Nylander - Forsberg

They're a riot!

I signed Peter Forsberg to a three year 21M deal - or 7M a year at Minnesota Wild.

Weird thing is, he actually signed with 3-4 teams before me, but every time it came back saying the team had cancelled the contract the day after - probably because they had signed other players in the mean time and now could not afford him - so eventually I got him, about 3 weeks after offering the contract.

Looks like Mac is winning here with his $8.1M a year for Hossa...

Biggest one I've handed out must be the $19.5M, three-year deal I re-signed Vinny Lecavalier to. His contract is up again in 2013, so I'm probably going to set a new personal record pretty soon.

I figured I was overpaying for Hossa, but I needed to make something happen. I was dealing with 1 line that could score consistently, I had about $13 million in cap room and the owners were concerned about the fan base staying loyal. Well... here's your new face of the Islanders folks... so far he's living up to the contract, and at 28, I have him until he's 31 and those should be very productive years. Fingers are crossed.

I managed to sign Crosby in his 6th year to a 5 yr contract extension at 8.5, 8.5, 9.0, 9.5, 9.5 plus a signing bonus (~400 - 500k). He's my fav player, and was putting up huge points.

Was this in a pre-salary cap version of EHM or a modified game with a higher salary cap (like the TBL update)? I know you can't give out a salary like that in the out of the box (so to speak) version of EHM 2007.

Version 3.0.4 (latest update). I had modified my cap to 48 Million with a pre game editor.

So I haven't posted in years but I still have been playing ever since I bought the game. Nice to see this site is still active.

Anyways...I thought I'd share this because I have never ever seen this happen. So whenever I want to ONLY qualify a restricted free agent, I always just offer them a contract with like a 9 year extension which they always reject. Well I did that for Alexander Guskov who, at age 35, is only in his second season with me (as a #6/7 dman). The idiot actually accepted the extension for 9 years at $610k cap hit...so I guess I'm stuck with him now haha. I'm very curious to see how long he will play for.
