Changing the start date?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I was wondering if it was possible to change the start date of the season when you start a new game.

It always starts on Aug 30, 2006, but I wanted to start at the beginning of the 2007-08 season, so I'd like to change the start date to 2007.

Nope, start date is hard coded into the game for licence issues.

Propably the only way to do that is by using a save game file. Check out Smetana Rosters at SI Forums.

Just doing some wishing if there ever should be another EHM........ I wish the game started in July when all the UFA's are released. I love the challange of tooling a team to improve it and fit my style but the 1st season really bugs me because there are so few FA's, leaving the only way to improve through a bunch of trades against the AI GM's. I find FA aquisitions to be more challenging because no matter your offer you still might lose out to another team (ie. I have NEVER been able to sign Mika Wiikman or Sam St.Laurent) as opposed to trades that you eventually will be able to swing, usually in your favor. I sometimes lose interest going through the motions the 1st season to wait to make a major overhaul. This is why I find playing some of the low minors more appealing because there are a plethora of available useful players. It's also a bit unrealistic for a new GM to take over right before training camp, normally this happens right after the playoffs or mid-season. Anyway, just some random thoughts as I (once again) start a new Penguins season impaitiently waiting for season #2 to make changes

Found this thread 6th down the list in search. AGAIN...please use the magnifying glass in the top right. I searched for "GAME START DATE" and got this thread. Have deleted the thread created by puckman....


Now...in my opinion since none of the AI GM's start signing free agents until you actually start the game...starting earlier would not make any difference in who you get and who you do not get. And yeah, it is not totally realistic for GM's to take over between the draft and the training camp, but that is what the game does for now. And the reason is...to give you the most up to date rosters they could for the year the game was made.

The draft is done, the players who were on the roster of each team is done. You are technically just coming in to the team yourself. You don't have to make the changes (We all do though)

Anyway...if it was started at Free Agency period all the UFA's would be there and the game would suck because certain players would not be on the team they actually started with 2006-07 with, and everyone would have bitched and whined about that.

Apparently, someone has managed to change the starting date (and much more) in Championship Manager 01/02 :

As far as I know, EHM2007 is based on the code from CM 01/02. Maybe someone with editing knowledge could contact the guy and transfer his findings to EHM ?

Jyp, that thread you're linking to is about changing the start date in FREEWARE version of EHM ElQuapo informed us about changing the start date in CM 01/02 and maybe in EHM 2007 then

I wonder if this modifies the game's executable file (which is illegal)...
