I know that the typical things like wins and championships boost your reputation, but are there other factors in the equation?
I won the Cup last season and ended up as the highest ranked GM. It's now about half-way through the season; I have a great record and just won the U20 tornament, but I've dropped to #14 in the GM rankings! What's stranger is that I dropped a few ranks right after winning the U20 torney.
What do you guys think is going on?

I'm not sure, but I managed to climb to top spot while I was Finland manager. I haven't win much, except from European tour. After I moved to ECHL, I've resigned from national team job and felt to around 50 in reputation rankings.
I don't think reputation is calculated properly in this game, since it only takes winning into consideration... I mean, I have reached the Kelly's Cup semifinals with Toledo, who was tipped to be 25th in the league before the season, but I haven't got any boost at all. Anyway, I think it's better to manage senior national team, rather then U20 - try to get a job either in any of top four nations (that plays European tour..) or one of the smaller teams that can win a Challange tournaments quite easily (Slovenia, Latvia, Norway..). I try to avoid smaller nations (like Hungary, Italy) and some bigger as well (Switzerland, for example), since you don't get much opportunities to win anything. It's also always welcomed to get a Canadian or US job and win some of the minor tournaments (Slovak Cup, Deutschland cup, Swiss cup...).
Anyway, sorry, I don't think I got the question right
But still, I don't think there is something wrong in your game, it's just the way the game works in general.

Yeah, I think that's how I got a HPK job in Finnish SM-league after half a season with Trondheim in Norway. Not very realistic, but I accept it and it raised my reputation to the top, so I could move much easier around. Now it felt again, since I'm in Toledo and no AHL team (or NHL for that matter) have offered me a job. I will have to win the Kelly's cup first, probably.
