Tried a fantasy draft for the first time: how does it look?

Post by jdh79 »

I downloaded the updated TBL 1.2 rosters and decided to try something I hadn't tried yet which is a fantasy draft. I took the Leafs, fired most of their staff and hired Pat Burns to run the team.

Here is what my current lines look like:

Gagne-Marleau-O.Jokinen
Huselius-Allison-Hunter
Sutherby-Halpern-Scratchard
Pandolfo-York-Hagman

Hannan-Regehr
Lukowich-Commodore
Morrison-Orpik

Grahame
Lalime

The goal I had was to target high picks with contracts that are reasonable to slightly underpriced and long term. I have :

Marleau 5.7 for 3 years (not a bargain but reasonable)
Gagne 5.25 for 4 years
Jokinen 5.25 for 3 years
Hannan 4.5 for 4 years
Regehr 2.1 for 6 years !!
Allison 1.8 for 3 years
Halpern 2.0 for 3 years

I am at 7 million under the cap right now so I should be able to spend money to do something about those terrible goalies in a year or two if necessary.

Any comments on if this looks like a team built to work out well or not?

EDIT: The NHL season preview ranked this team 30th of 30.

Could be a pretty solid team. The only weakness I see is goaltending.

Even with those goalies, you should win the Cup easily with the lineup you have ;)

Oh and don't care about the NHL preview rankings! In the challenge, i was ranked 30th in season 1 and won the President's Trophy and the Cup, ranked 16th in season 2 and lost in game 7 of the Conference Finals after finishing the regular seasons tied for 2nd overall, so they finally decided to rank me 1st for season 3 :D I've yet to start the playoffs, but already won the President's Trophy.
