More Names ?

Post by marc420 »

Has anyone done any expansions to the names used by the program?

I like to play with ficitional player names. Basically I enjoy not automatically knowing who the good players are because I know the name from real-life.

However, in the game I just started with the 2.1.1 patch, there seems to be a real shortage of original names in the game. There are lots and lots of playes with the same last name. Kinda annoying, as you have to now tell the difference between "D.Shockey", "N.Shockey" and "O.Shockey". And its not just that name. Its more like if the entire hockey world was populated by maybe a 100 versions of the Sutter family. 8-[

So I was looking around out here to see if anyone had posted any mods to the files used in creating these names. I'm pretty well stuck with this starting setup, as I doubt I'd restart the game. But maybe if I got an expansion, at some point the players coming into the game won't all have the same last names as the players already in the game.

BTW, I'm seeing this because I started without real player names. I'd guess everyone else's league will look like this too if they play the game long enough. I'm assuming that whatever set the names in my fictional league is the same tool used to create new names for new players coming into the game.

I personally don't see the point of playing with made-up players. If my game goes so far in time, that there's no original players left, I'd propably restart with another league.

Afterall a real manager would also know the names of future stars, even better than an EHM player does. It's a question of being able to sign them before the other teams do.

I doubt there's a name-maker. But I guess it's not all that hard to create for someone who knows what they're doing.

I think it might not be a problem of lack of names but a problem of there being so many players the computer must fill if you choose that option...

You can add names with the editor but I'm not sure how effective it is; I think I remember some people mentioning they'd had problems with their added names showing.

In any case it's a database change and in order to see the chnage you'd have to start a new game.
