Game Anomaly - No Next Opponent Scouting Report

Post by thatsarap »

Hey,

I have an interesting anomaly happen with my game. I wonder if anyone has anything similar.

I'm playing the Leafs (yeah, I know - yada yada, they're still the second greatest team in NHL history - get over it! ;) ) without issue, but my AHL Marlies don't receive the Next Opponent Scouting report for only one team - the Rochester Americans. I have scouting for next opponent, and I get all reports save this one. No report is issued before the game, in any of the matchups over the course of the season.

I know, that's what I said - weird.

This is my first season playing the game (addictive little bugger that it is), and I'm using the updated version of the game, but not the un-faked database.

Anyone else experience something like this? Is it my game in particular, or a known bug? I haven't seen anything about it in the forums.

Thanks,

You are GM'ing the Marlies? and the Marlie scout is scouting them?

Is it the playoffs? Cause it happens often in the playoffs for game 1 of the series. No matter who you are GMing, because the game schedules it for the same day quite often, when it sets the playoff sched.

Now that I read it it says all the time. My best guess would be because Rochester has all players contracted to Florida and Buffalo, so the scout does not scout the Amerks...cause he thinks there are no Amerks?

I have heard nothing about this before either, but the above is my best guess.

Someone who runs AHL teams more often than me may be able to answer better...

You've got it!

When you scout your next opponent in the AHL, the scouting report (not the news item, i'm talking about the report here) shows only the players contracted to the AHL team, in this case the Rochester Americans. So if the team only has players farmed from the NHL team, your scout will see no player contracted, and therefore not consider them as a team, which leads to no report (this time i'm talking about the news item :D).

The same way, when you get a report and your scout is talking about the best players of the upcoming opponent, he only mentions the players contracted to the AHL, and just skips the guys contracted to the NHL team. That's how you'll see that "player X is a strong defensive presence" while he could be just the backup Dman of that team.

I knew I was smart.

Buffalo and FLorida share Rochester, and both have tons of signed prospects. So Rochester does not bother to sign anyone in the game. Maybe if you control one of those two NHL teams they would because of jettison of the stuff that sucks in Flo and Buf..

But since Rochester is computer controlled as are Florida and Buffalo...no report.

All other AHL teams will need to sign players in your game, because well..not as many NHL prospects sent down.

Hey Batdad,

I'm being ambitious, GM'ing (and micromanaging) the Leafs, and both farm teams - Marlies and Columbia Inferno - guess I'm a little crazy for control ;) . Though I do leave the coaching for the Inferno alone.

Course, this could explain why I haven't reached the playoffs yet. Still only 60 games into the regular season.

Anyway, the problem only is with the Marlies and the Rochester Americans. As I said, I get all the other reports. I haven't tried changing the scout for the Marlies Next Opponent. And another interesting thing is Rochester has been smoking the league this year - currently 46-9-1 (with 3 of the losses coming from to the Marlies), and already have earned a playoff spot. They are loaded with players for the Panthers & Sabres, with no players contracted to Rochester itself.

I might try changing the scout, but don't think that'll make a difference.

No one else has encountered this problem before, hmm? :-k

Just read Shad's response - eureka! That explains it. I wondered what was going on!

Thanks guys!
