How can they send my player to the minors!

How can they send my player to the minors!

In my Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL) blog, I own the rights to Swedish center Mikael Backlund. Washington decided to sign him over the summer, and I figured: He's not ready for the NHL, I'll probably get him for the year. After training camp Washington sent him to Hershey.

Now the way I understand it if a players CHL Rights are owned by a team, and they're under 20 years of age (which Backlund is), then if they want to send him down, they have to send him to Juniors. I read the FAQ in the EHM Guide, and the section on that topic seems to support my position...so how did they send him to Hershey? Maybe there's something I'm missing...

IRL, If they were drafted from their European team, they can get sent to the AHL as 18-year olds. An CHL-playing draftee has to be 20 to be assigned to the AHL.
However, I have seen Stamkos getting sent to the AHL at 18 in a game I'm playing so I don't know how much of that rule is in EHM

Ah, that would explain it. Thanks a lot! :thup:

As for Stamkos, if the Sarnia Sting released his rights he could be sent down to the AHL at 18...seems weird that they would do that though... :dunno:

Stamkos isn't exactly a stud in the vanilla version of the database. Which could be the reason.

I found the reason why Stamkos could be assigned. I am using Lidas rosters and Stamkos was never drafted in that one. I think Lidas mentioned something that he'll try to add the new drafted players on the backend of the last draft in the game. Then they wouldn't be able to be assigned
