Hey guys. Do you use some notes or do you update some remarks beside the EHM? I mean this: for example I have excel sheet with my players sorted (F/D/G separately) from top to loosers. Then I have a history of contract negotiations in order to know what offers player refused and what were the signing bonuses and I update it after every contract signing or refusing. I have also my scouts sorted and each time I sent a scout to team/league, I update the list. So I always know, who is where and which league report is out of date.
And finally I have a list of players that I'd like to trade to my team. And also staff.
Do you use something like this or do you stand only with the in-game statistics and history in the news? Hope you understand my question. (Maybe you would want to change the topic subject.)
In the off-season I usually have a spread sheet with the players I consider for my NHL roster in the upcoming season. It has them listed by position and cap hit. It's a lot easier to manage the salary cap that way in the off-season. Sometimes I note down how the players do in the shootout to find out who are my best shooters. That's it really.
I keep everything i my brain and on the shortlist!
In my games i always try to be continious. For example I don't fire any staff even if they are horrible.
I just let their contracts expire. So there is not much need for tracking in sheets since i don't change my staff very often.
And the contract negotiations...in most cases somehow i manage to get players to resign cheap and stay happy.
Of course the scouting is very important. But i just put every prospect i'm interested in on the shortlist.

I used to do this too but as my shortlist was growing, I got a lot of news about shortlisted players and after couple of months I got lost in it. Cleaning the shortlist is not solution as you want to have player for a long time there, aren't you.
Sometimes I like to track my players attribute development. I made a spreadsheet where I could log their attributes at regular intervals and watch the increases (and in some cases decreases).
Since the software lacks good data manipulation features, I do almost everything in an Excel workbook (that has 30+ speadsheets) plus an Access DB for scouting reports. The DB is available for download here, but the spreadsheets I haven't posted. It's a pain sometimes, but it works for me.

I haven't posted the workbook as it prolly wouldn't make sense to anyone else. It is just a collection of minor spreadsheet apps that I use for stat calculations and tracking, depth charting etc. It is something I started building in EHM 2005 but hardly anything is labeled and isn't in any kind of order. I just know what sheet I'm looking for and haven't spent any time on making it presentable and don't have the time or inclination to do so, so I won't likely post it.

You have different tactics for every team!?
Nah. I have 3 sets of tactics total. 2 main ones and one specialized one.
When I play, for instance, the Rangers, I use Tactic 1. Then the next game against the Rangers, I use Tactic 2. The next game against the Rangers, I go back to Tactic 1.
