Contract Question: Player and Team Option???

Post by maxrsp »

Sorry if this has been discussed before but my quick search using the forum search tool didn't find anything specific...

I have seen in the EHM manual the player and team contract options but I have never seen them in-game; are they specific to certain leagues, and if so, which ones?

Thanks!

There are 2 pages to the contract screen.

Top of the Left-hand panel it says "Basic" and below that it says "Bonuses & Clauses" Click on that and it takes you to the screen to set POY & TOY, or any other applicable clauses.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I am aware of the contract screens, but I have only ever played the NHL clubs and on the Bonus & Clauses screen I have only ever seen NTC and 2Way clauses (in addition to the various bonuses)

Which leagues should I expect to see the player and team option clauses? Thanks!

They don't exist in the NHL, but do in pretty much ever other country. Not sure about other North American leagues.

They used to have them though. I want to say it was the salary cap and the new CBA that changed that. I think it was EHM 2005 where we could offer option years.

Huh... I never noticed that POY & TOY clauses weren't available for the NHL. I use them in the AHL & ECHL. Sorry about that.

There are a lot of types of POY/TOY in real NHL, even autooptions. Conditions for such autooptions can be player points, goals, etc. Or team appearence in conference/playoff finals and so on... Or any combination. New conctracts cannot contain options, I guess.
