Salary Cap Issue

Post by RomaGoth »

I could not find this anywhere else in the Lidas Rosters subforum. When I begin a season/dynasty as the Detroit Red Wings, I am over the salary cap by a considerable amount (somewhere around $3 million or more). I understand that they were up against it in 2009-10, but even with Lilja on IR, there is no way to get under the cap without trading players like Brad Stuart and/or Dan Cleary.

Anyone here who has played as the Wings, or another team that starts out over the cap, can you give me some pointers/advice?

Thanks

I believe I had to send Filipula to the minors to get under the cap. Because he has no history in this game he doesn't have to clear waivers.

I have a hard time sending him to the minors at age 25. I put Lilja on IR for around 6 months, reduced Lidstrom's contract a little bit, and unsigned Andersson, Callahan, and Hudler (while keeping their rights). Andersson and Callahan didn't even sign until Spring 2010, so I don't feel I should have to take on their contract for the entire first season and be over the cap because of it.

I don't feel like I cheated by doing these things, it is better than having to trade someone and thus losing the realism I strive to achieve with my rosters. :dunno:

Well i had even worse problems with the Rangers, it sbecuase of tradeline/season acquisitions. You will just have to find a way to get under the cap via trades i guess, no other way rounf at least with the Rangers if you dont jsut wanna put someone on waivers.
