Restricted Free Agency Question

Post by hcdfanatic83 »

I dont know the exact rules of restricted free agency nor do i know if the has the correct rules.

My Problem is that i drafted a few good prospects, and im gonna take Oldrich hascak for an example.

He is twenty years old and has played one year in the nhl. i think he should be a restricted free agent.

but there is no option for an offer sheet, so i thought i can only offer him that after his contract expires. but now he is gone and is an unrestricted free agent. the same thing happened to all my prospects.

Arent they rfa's anymore after i offer them a normal contract if they refuse to sign it?

I really dont know and any help would be greatly appreciated

Edited thread title for clarity. -Stinson

You have to qualify the player before July 1st or they will become unrestricted.

You can only tender offer sheets to other team's RFAs.

Page 43 and 44 of the game manual goes over this in some detail.

ok, i think i got it now, but now i have one more question. How can i qualify him? Can i do that during the season or just in the offseason? and he had 900.000$ so i have to give him the exact same money?

You have to qualify the player before his contract expires on July 1. So, yes... sometime during the season. If you don't, he will become unrestricted. When you go to the contract offer screen, it will tell you exactly how much you have to offer to qualify him.
