Getting the Most out of Players

Post by umwoz »

1st post here. Been lurking around for a while.

One question, how do you guys get the best performance out of your players? I'm not sure if this is entirely possible in my case, because I don't coach games or set up tactics(I'm not that deep into the game).

Reason I ask, is because I had Derek Roy on my Buffalo Sabres. Roy's scouting report continually slated him as a franchise forward, however I never had him consistently over an 8.0 Rating, ever. In fact, the only player I could keep over an 8.0 was Ryan Kesler.(And Miller, but he sort of does that on his own :) )

Recently I traded Derek Roy away, he needed a new contract, and wanted over 5.5 Million. I simply could not afford this, so I traded him away and slotted in a young promising prospect. 20 games later, I check on Roy and he is averaging an 8.64 with very average linemates!

So back to my question, How can I get the best out of my players? Any and all tips are welcome, I am fairly new at this game, so if there are any tips you remember learning as you picked the game up, I would appreciate them.

Here's a little secret. In EHM small players got some problem getting over 8. I got the same problem with Vyborny at CLB or Svatos just for name those. They can have a 80 pts season and just have a pathetic 7.50 rating.

I tried to find a thread about this but I didn't. I know somewhere we talked about this though. I think that because they're small, they got difficulties to "impose" themselfves on the ice with all those big players. So this can affect the defence/physic rating a little even if they got points at almost each game. If anyone got a better opinion or find a thread that could be great. :dunno:

By the way, Welcome to TBL umwoz. :-D

This question really doesn't need it's own thread. It sounds like you're looking for help with your current game or roster. Check out...

That's we're you should post requests for help with your current game. Alternatively, you could read the tactics threads, the practice thread, and the developing players thread. Basically, check out the stickied threads in the Game Knowledge Discussion Forum.

I'm going to lock this thread.
