Player Performance

Post by Loner »

I'm playing for some years and I've always wonder what make some player perform better than other even with less CA, PA and attributes.

Outside of the big size biased of EHM 2007 I sometime find strange why a player like Antropov always have 8-9. Horcroft has been nerfed a lot in recent update with like one 17 attributes but still perform crazy. Habs prospect Eller even with a 145 PA rapidly achieve 8+ rating without high stats (all 13-14 at 23 years old). Other player like Anthony Stewart perform in the 7+ with about 8 min a game while better player rarely achieve that with that kind of ice time. Their's numerous example of guys like this in EHM. Over the years I've realize that attributes and PA is not that important.

It's still fun to see a guys outperform player with better rating but that leave me wondering if there a hidden "good performer" attributes. Recently I've boosted Sergei Kostitsyn to make him a kind of second line forward but everything I boost doesn't change the fact that he still perform badly whatever I tried. Another one I've boost is Josh Gorges, Even with very high Checking, positioning, Consistency, Teamwork, Work rate, Anticipation and a defensive mentality he never perform in the 7 even with 20+ TOI. I've boost him a lot more than what he is.

linemate chemestry would be my guess. In a perfect world the team style might be better for a player over another guy - more offence, less backchecking etc. but i don't know exactly how that works for the AI teams...

Home, Current and World Rep make a huge difference too - or at least home and current do.

I believe there is a hidden attribute called Decisions in saved-game editor that can factor how well a player's performance is overall, someone correct me if I'm wrong
