[club.dat][club_comp.dat] Adding new teams to a league

Post by Grant77 »

I've been experimenting with adding a new team to the NHL without removing an existing one so I can build a team from scratch. My new team (Jets) had to sit out an entire year, but but it gave me time to add some European guys and staff before the draft and free agency. I actually squeaked into the playoffs in my first year on a 24 mil payroll, thanks to 105 goals from my top line of Weinhandl (46), Thoresen (37) and Vikingstad (28) (no good NHL players would sign) and a ridiculous performance from Pascal Leclaire.

Anyways, I encountered 2 problems. During the 07/08 season I noticed that the Predators hadn't even played a game (schedule glitch?), but still traded and signed players like an active team. The other problem is that the playoffs just didn't happen. They happened in 06/07, but not 07/08.

So I guess my question is this. Is the game capable of creating an NHL schedule for anything but 30 teams? Is there any other way I could start a team from scratch? I like the challenge.

The game can't handle new league structures (i.e. adding teams). If you want to make a new team in any league, you have to add them in place of an existing team.

This is a bit of creating teams/creating league questions... I don't like the fact that how OHL and WHL have bantam leagues and then have junior leagues where QMJHL only has 2 leagues all together... Is there a releastic way to create more... I mean I know people say u can create them if you dont play as them but my question is would it be releastic to cretae bantam leagues or major juniors so that QJAHL and MJAHL are like BCHL and OPJHL and not having the prospects on them before they are drafted...

So what im asking is

Prospect A in OHL would go from say GTHL or ODMHA to say OPJHL and such... I wanna have it for the QMJHL where they go to the Major Junior legaue like QMJHL verison of ODMHA or GTHL then to QJAHL or MJAHL i ment to say... I hope this doesnt confuse people of what i am trying to ask

It is confusing, but as long as:

(1) These leagues are not meant to be playable and
(2) These leagues are not supposed to have a draft

It is possible, though it will take some work. The problem with created leagues is they have no schedule, so if you want realistic sims, scoring and stats you're probably going to have to stick with existing league structures.

What i ment to ask was... Ive played as QMJHL before and the players coming up in the upcoming draft are on QJAHL and MJAHL... I want them to be like the OHL OPJHL and WHL's BCHL where the players who are coming up in the draft arent on those teams yet and rather have them on like Quebec's version of GTHL or ODMH... I hope that clarifies it bit of what I'm asking..

Age limit and league reputation is what you should be looking at

Age limit and league reputation is what you should be looking at
OPJHL - Rep 5 Upper Age 20
QAJHL - rep 5 upper age 20
BCHL - rep 6 upper age 20
MJAHL - rep 6 upper age 20

Like they are all the same but i don't know why the prospects for the QMJHL are on the QJAHL and MAJHL... i want to play as a QMJHL but i rather have the players not on those teams in their draft year... thats what im trying to fix..

So if I change the rep on the two leagues and the age then I should be fine... Also there's 4 leagues out west bchl, ajhl, sjhl and mjhl.... If I create leagues like that for qmjhl since they aren't playable would my game still crash?

There are leagues like the BCHL and MJHL for the QMJHL. It is the Quebec Junior AAA HOckey League and the Maritime Jr A Hockey League. Are you saying that the players are drafted from those leagues? They shouldn't. They should be drafted from the various midget leagues that exist in Quebec and the Maritimes

What i mean is QJAHL and MJHL is quebecs version of BCHL and MJHL... I want to have it so it isn't like that and that the quebec has leagues like ODMHA (ontario) or GTHL type thing not their Junior A teams that has drafted prospects on there during the draft

I don't quite follow. Do you want leagues to draft from or leagues to put already drafted guys in?

OHL doesnt have the players in their Draft playing on Junior A teams such as OPJHL and WHL doesn't have their players playing on JUnior A teams... Unless i have it wrong QMJHL does... I want to put it so that the players in the upcoming quebec rookie draft arent playing on Junior A teams during their draft year... So like OHL has it... Where they play say like ODMHA or GTHL and such and then sign with a OPJHL in the summer after they are drafted... Thats the kind of idea im looking at for the QMJHL...

QMJHL draft some players from Jr. A league (in-game) but most are from midget leagues like QMHL, NPMHL, ME, NLMHL.
There is no way to stop draftable players to be with Jr. A or B leagues. You could try to raise the reputation of the midget leagues

I've been editing an unplayable league, Hockey Québec Midget Espoir, I changed the divisions and some teams to match the new season and also the upper age to 16 (it was at 18), the league reputation is 3.Midget Espoir are 15 yo players.
The problem is there's no players "assigned" to their roster so no stats for "league leaders". Will the game fill their roster eventually or I have to do it manually in the pre-game editor? :-?

The game only creates a certain amount of new players every season. It depends on how many players retire. It will take some time before the game fills those teams fully. You are better off to create them manually in the pre-game editor

Thanks,
another question, If I have to create "fake" players do I have to input their CA or just a PA like -11 or -12 to randomize their attributes?
I might do that because it will be hard to find details of 15 yo players in ME.

In the Midget Espoir they play only at 15 then the next year they go to Midget AAA so it's hard to figure which player in the Bantam division that will make the cut.

To randomize you just have to give them a "0" rating.
-11 and -12 players might at best become fourthliners in the NHL.
If you input a CA value then the attributes will be randomized accordingly

I dont know if this quation should be here, but i have a idea of changing Atlanta into Winnipeg "in the future of EHM".

I have looked in the extra config file and found "affiliation changes", "new affiliation" and "change team colour" where you should be able to change the name and colours of the team in the game without change it from the start of the game.
How do i make so that the Thrashers become the Jets in 2011?

I dont really understand the code for 100%, so if heres anyone who could help me understand it better i would appreciate it!

Would love to get the Jets to beat too! :D

I don't think that works. Anyway, you still have to start a new game for the changes to kick in

I'm afraid I cannot tell you off-hand exactly what the syntax is for the extra_config.cfg file but you could try downloading some of our older rosters to see if those extra_config files contain examples.

Although you might be able to edit affiliations within the game, you're not going to be able to use the extra_config to change a team's name or location AFAIK.
