Stars and the Shootout

Post by IslesEnforcer »

Anyone notice in their games that their top stars are terrible in the shootout?
Obviously this doesn't happen to everyone, I'm really just curious on how players are performing in the shootout.

My example, Alex Ovechkin and John Tavares (both on my team) are awful at the shootout. Both are 10-15% success. Anyone else notice this, and if so, is there a way for them to improve?

Could they be tired from playing the game? I know many people over-play their stars so that they might just not have enough left in the tank after the game and OT to really be at top form in the shootout.

I always got problems with my super-stars in shootout too. I often change the order of the players. I like putting a D-man in a shootout, sometimes it pays off! :-D

What annoys me is that Ovechkin will score 4 goals in one game and if we go to a shootout, he always runs right into the goalie without taking a shot. i mean c'mon, you can score 4 goals in a game on breakaways but not in the shootout?

I've always thought that the shootout was flawed. I can have a dominant team and it seems like I always struggle with shootouts.

Yup. even with the most powerful team I always lose in shootout, even is the goalie is weak. That's why when we go to OT I set my tactics to rush and shoots alot on the other team so I'm almost sure to score. :-p
