A couple of questions:
I'm pretty sure the presidents and D.O.P.'s are just there for effect, but my question is, how do they get hired? Some of the teams have them in the game, but my team (the Rangers, currently in 2022-23) has neither. I think it would be nice to be able to hire some of my retired players for that position, but it's not possible in-game. Can it be done with the saved-game editor?
Also, does the Chairman ever retire? James Dolan is still the chairman for the Rangers, and he's 69 now. When he does retire, does a new owner automatically take over, or is it some sort of selection process?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Director of Personnel/President/Chairman
You can't hire any once the originals are gone. I don't know about the editor, but I really don't think that will work
Yes, the Chairman will eventually retire. Some go into their 70's.

Re: Director of Personnel/President/Chairman
While Chairmen play an important role in teams, President and Director of Personnel are just flavor positions. I tend to edit the database to remove guys from these positions who have young and active careers and a chance to move on to greater things (to give them a chance to do that).
For example, Jim Devellano is the Wings president and has been for a long time. This seems to be his career until he retires. As such, I leave him there.
On the other hand, Chelios is presently in a "Director of Personnel" type role for the Wings, and the current Lidas DB has him in such a position. However, to give him an opportunity to "move on" to other things, as he probably will in real life, I tend to edit him to be a scout. This both allows him to have an active role in the org and lets him move on or move to other things (like being an assistant GM, or a coach, or something), rather than being stuck in a flavor position with no ability to move or remove him in-game.
