Basic Help for Someone Completely New

Post by Kaberle15 »

I've only ever played EA's Dynasty Mode/Be a GM, and I found this community when looking for a really good hockey sim. I've heard that this is the best of the best, and I really want to get in on it. Can somebody give me the bare bone basics such as if I should update rosters/what do I do? I really just want to know what to do so I'm not missing out, I'd really like to get the best experience possible. If someone could just give me the basics on how to make this the best experience possible that would be fantastic.

Thanks a lot, Kaberle15

The 'best' experience is quite a personal choice so it will be hard for people to make suggestions. As for assistance in game play see the Wiki section that has excellent guides as to how to play the game.

The roster updates are good if you want to play the teams as they are now but as the game eventually becomes a complete fantasy league after several seasons of play, it really doesn't matter.

Have fun, experiment with different ways to play and different teams and leagues and welcome to EHM!

Cheers

Hey, thanks a lot man, I guess I'll try the roster pack and then just play around with it from there. Just one other question, what's the deal with online leagues? I'm just wondering what you have to do to play in an online league, or if this is the wrong game or whatever to do such a thing.

Thanks again

Check out our DMHNL section for online play (with EHM 2005).

Prolly better to learn the game first. My advice would be this: don't mind the learning curve. Be patient and take time. It's well worth it!

Hi Kaberle15. Welcome to TBL! :)

As Schneides recommended, the Wiki is a useful place to start. Although it was written for EHM 2005, the EHM 2005 Guide will help you get started. A lot the information in that guide is equally as valid/useful for EHM 2007. The EHM 2007 Guide is useful for learning more about tactics and team selection.

As for downloads, make sure you install the final patch for EHM. Other than that, the latest version of the Lidas/Manimal Rosters is the only other essential download imho. There's plenty of logos and facepacks, etc to download too, but they're not essential and you can add them later once you've gotten to grips with the game.

Thanks a lot you guys, I downloaded the patch and the Lidas rosters and I'm just about to start messing around and learning how to play. I'm pretty excited for this game, thanks for the help again, it's much appreciated.
