New to EHM

Post by nazkad »

I'm new to EHM, and i'm having troubles figuring out how to do everything. I can't seem to find Free Agency and for some reason, I cant sign Schenn and MacArthur (Im the Leafs). They arent on my roster list. Also, is there a way to simulate multiple days at a time? And is there a place where it shows the players overall rating? I know im most likely being a pain, but im confused. Any tips/suggestions would be very appreciated. I looked for videos on how to play the game, but had no luck.

Are you using EHM07 or EHM05?

From the main screen select "Player & Staff Search".....you'll be taken to a new screen where you can select Player or Staff search (left side of screen), and you can use "Filters" to find Free Agents and lots more (top right hand corner)

What rosters are you using? If you haven't downloaded a roster update (such as the most current Lidas/Manimal update) then you're using the Default Rosters (EHM07 Default Rosters are from the summer of 2006!)

Not in-game (you can using the Pre-Game Editor)...

There are Guides on this site (checkout the "wiki" link at the top of the TBL main page), they will help immensely! The 2005 Guide is still relevant and it is recomended to look at both the 2005 Guide and the 2007 Guide

I suggest reading the wiki page and taking a look at the manual that comes with the game. It will help you answer these very basic questions.

The 3.2db was done without all the free agency. Schenn and MacArthur are un-signed RFAs for your team.
Under "General Manager Options" there is a way to go on vacation. Set your return date as you please. Remember to look at the other settings so your AGM doesn't do anything stupid

Thanks a lot manimal. One last question, how do I make more money. I seem to be losing money every month. Is there a way to get more income like setting ticket prices higher or something?

You can't set ticket prices, sponsorship deals, etc. The best way to improve your bank balance is to reduce your salary bill (e.g. trade out a few players for lower paid players, player rights or draft picks). IIRC you'll see your income dip during the summer when you're not playing many games.

Don't worry about the money. It's cosmetic.

Really? So with my 1974 db I don't need to bother setting the team finances? And I can have some of the "WHA" teams have their small rinks (8,000 seats) and they won't suffer at all by havinng half the amount of seats to sell? And there will be no differences between teams and the money/budget they have regardless of ownership attributes?
We may not be able to actually adjust things (like ticket prices) in-game, but I'm prettty sure that money is not "cosmetic" (and things like team finaces and rink size/seats and ownership finances can be edited using the Pre-Game Editor)

Well, that extreme doesn't exist in the current or stock databases like it would in your 1974 database. I use the Islanders (small building), am in 2053 and never had to pay attention to money. Maybe cosmetic is the wrong word for it, since in certain circumstances (like editing the hell out of the game), it can maybe be more than cosmetic... but, 99.99% of the time, for people playing normal, standard databases, it's simply a non-issue.

Can't you be fired if financial results are dismal? I never reached that point, but I assume there's got to be some way to prevent you from sinking the team into huge debts...

I don't think so. I have been fired several times and each time was due to poor performance of the team. I want to say that I did get a email once saying something like I was given 10 mil to save the team from going broke but was never warned or fired cause of it. Since I like to have at least 3 deep on my AHL team I don't think I ever come out on the plus side of the ledger.

What i don't understand is my team is currently a 3 time champ with the last 2 years being the presidents cup winner yet my average attendance is the lowest it has been in the last decade. When a team is that sucessful I would think each home game would be a sellout. The fan base says passionate it just doesn't make sense to me.
