Minimum Age?

Post by kabbott50 »

I was thinking of doing something like Calv did with his "Create a Star" scenario last year, but I just wanted to do oit for myself during a career. Is there a minimum age to use? I was hoping to start as low as Atom (9-10 years old) or younger if possible.

From what I'm aware of minimum age is not really an issue IF you have created Leagues for them to play in (there are no Leagues below PeeWee in-game).
For the 1974 db I've created the nrccesary Mite/Novice/Atom/PeeWee Leagues to place "extra young" players.

ALSO I briefly tested players born AFTER the Game Start Date and it seemed to work...players born in 2007 and 2008 show up as -1 and -2 starting ages!
I did not test this much though (see the first page or two of the 1974 db string for further details)

I went down to 4 and 5-ish and simmed out a bit more long-term and found no real "problems". Still can't guarantee how it'll affect skills development and physical growth though,

Thanks guys. If Pee-Wee is the lowest league already in the game, I'll probably start as an underage 10 year old Pee-Wee Superstar and see how it works out!

That's my thread from back a few months ago (though Manimal had to restore a post or two from a crash). nino expanded on this further in his 70's mod thread here and we talked about it some more. I threw what I tried out there, and nino tested and expanded on it a lot further:

There's awesome potential here for people making historical mods (imagine the number of real draft classes you could then have in the DB!), it just hasn't really been tapped yet. Mainly because creating all those younger leagues so the kids have somewhere to play is admittedly a LOT of work on top of any other DB work you'd do.
