Issue with the patch (3.0.4)

My apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but if it has I can't find it!!

I have an issue with getting the patch (3.0.4) to work. If I download the game it works. If I then try to add the patch, it doesn't!! The error message I get is:

"EHM2007.exe unable to locate component
The application has failed to start because msvcr71.dII was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"

Needless to say, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it doesn't help.

Any suggestions?
