Hi all,
I looked through the threads, but could not find anything relevant.
I have EHM 2007 installed on my Mac (OS 10.6) and PC (XP), and keep my files in Dropbox. I'd like to be able to run the same games on both machines, but although the file structures are the same and the files look the same (same suffixes for saved games, tactics, etc.), the Mac version cannot "see" the PC saved games and vice versa.
Anyone have any clues as to whether this is possible?
Thanks,
Steve

Kind is standard that Mac and PC are not compatible. Always has been. They um kind of compete against each other. They are as close as the Canucks and bruins or Canucks and hawks.

Re: Running same saved files on Mac and PC versions
Actually, batdad, that used to be the case, maybe 5-10 years ago. Today, for most programs available on both platforms, file formats are standard between them. Being that I use both every day (though I prefer the Mac), I know whereof I speak. I am able to do most anything on either machine with the same files.
Of course, I realize that the operating systems compete with each other (if you can call what Windows puts out "competing"), but the software manufacturers don't really care about that. That's why this particular case is annoying.

It does seem a bit strange that databases are compatible with both platforms but saved games aren't. I wonder if it is because of differences in the way data is stored/processed...
Do the saved games appear in the list when you click on the Load button in EHM?

Yeah, that's what I thought, archibalduk. No, the games don't appear on in the Load menu on the other platform. Oh well... ](./images/smilies/wallbash.gif)

Hmmm.... Try creating a blank .txt file and rename it to something like test.sav. Place it in your saved game folder and see whether it appears in the Load menu.
I might try this myself when I can find time.

Ah it seems that doesn't show up either. Looks like the game filters out sav files that aren't of the correct format.archibalduk wrote:Hmmm.... Try creating a blank .txt file and rename it to something like test.sav. Place it in your saved game folder and see whether it appears in the Load menu.
