Hello,
I'm not sure if anyone has had this problem before. I have been using the pre-game editor to edit some player potential attributes. In many cases I was assigning players to the negative value random generator (i.e. assigning -5 to PA, to achieve something from 70-100).
However, when I went to check these players' PA in the saved-game editor (after creating the game), the players would often not have a PA in the range corresponding to the negative value I assigned them (i.e. even though I gave them a -5 PA, they would turn out to have a PA above 100 in the saved-game editor). Moreover, I observed that their (supposedly random) potential would be constant across game creations; for example, if I saw a player with a PA of -5 in the pre-game editor, who had a PA of say 115 in the saved-game, in each new game creation (I did at least a dozen) they would always have a PA of 115! And worse, even if I changed their negative PA in the pre-game editor (say from -5 to -1, or -12 to -11), they would still have 115 in the saved-game. So it appears like the random attributes don't do anything!
Has anyone seen this before? Or have any idea how I can get random attributes in the ranges that they should occur?
Thanks

Hmmm...ccmequip wrote:Moreover, I observed that their (supposedly random) potential would be constant across game creations
Last year I did some significant testing to look at yearly Height/Weight and CA development - so using the UUDB I took a sample of 125 players and did 3 different tests of IIRC 12 years each (http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 110&t=8146)
I just took a look at that data now, and picked five players with a random PA (-9 so their PA should be between 150-180) and checked to see what their PA was each time...

[th]NAME[/th][th]TEST 1 PA[/th][th]TEST 2 PA[/th][th]TEST 3 PA[/th]

Carey Price174150151

Claude Giroux141159153

Taylor Hall156159157

Sam Gagner177159172

Drew Doughty177172167

In all cases the PA was within the set range, and the result was different each time...
Regards

Thanks for the quick reply
I ran some more tests, and I found out that the randomizing is working with PAs -9 and -8, but not -7 or lower.
Do you have any data on players with PAs of -7 or lower that you could check? It would be greatly appreciated.

The spreadsheet (link above) has such players IIRC...ccmequip wrote:Do you have any data on players with PAs of -7 or lower that you could check? It would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT - There are three such players...and their PAs all correctly vary and fall within the set range too
