Kessel is such a joke. He hasn't accomplished anything at the NHL level yet to warrant his attitude. I'm so glad the Bruins got 2 1sts and a 2nd for him. We've already got Tyler Seguin and Jared Knight for him. I believe if the season ended today, we'd have the #5 overall pick with Toronto's pick from this year.

That was a steal of a trade for the Bruins - To make things worse for those of us non-Bruin fans, the Bruins are a good team and yet they are still landing top 5 picks in the draft!

Not to mention whose original draft pick Tuukka Rask was. Guesses, knowledge... anyone? :-p

And you know who the Bruins gave up for Rask? Raycroft! Razor is a bit of a journeyman these days, currently with the Stars. Last week he got chased out of net in the first period by a flurry of goals by the Bruins.

Yea, but who needs Tuuka Rask, when you have Tim Thomas??!!

How in the world does Brian Burke have a job as a GM?? I think some of the GMs playing EHM could do better!

Burke wasn't there though for the Rask/Raycroft trade. Still, the Leafs seem to never want to build from the draft, the want success right now, which doesn't work as in the past.

Speaking of the draft and the Toronto pick. Peter Chiarelli has stated that he's willing to entertain offers for that Toronto pick heading into the deadline. This is the exact opposite of last year. Supposedly there is an offer on the table involving a "star player" that the team is looking at internally.

Its funny actually they have two starter goalies. Thomas got Vezina and still Rask got the better of him last season and still Timmy came back this season. Really interested to see what happens next season. And from what I read they get along really well, Tuukka was chilling at Timmy's pool this summer. :D

Looks like the injury bug has finally taken its toll in Pittsburgh. Crosby, Malkin, Kunitz, Asham, and Letestu are out - That's almost half of the starting forwards!

I think this is where Jordan Staal really needs to pick it up offensively.

Fleury had a rough night last night (.840%) - Didn't see the game, but evidently the Pens didn't really play "their" game.

The Leafs have traded Francois Beauchemin to the Ducks for Jake Gardiner, Joffrey Lupul and a conditional draft pick. Lupul appears to have just been thrown into the trade to help the Ducks save money.

Looks like a good trade for the Leafs. Beauchemin hasn't been very good in Toronto and they are getting a good prospect in Gardiner.

LOL Leafs are signing players just for fun or what? Anyway I prefer that Beauchemin is going back to Anaheim.

By the way Volchenkov as been suspended 3 games for is elbow hit against the Hurricanes. Guess who's next? Matt Cooke!! He as been suspended for 4 games because he hit from behind Tyutin against Columbus. I'm glad the NHL seems to be a little bit more serious.

Lets be honest here...Tyutin turned and saw that Cooke was coming yet turned his back when retrieving the puck, rather than turning a shoulder to Cooke to either hit him or brace himself for a hit. There's no player, IMO, that would pull up in that situation, knowing that the player saw you coming and then turned his back...what the heck was Cooke supposed to do?

I think if it was anyone other than Cooke, it would have been a non-issue.

Yes, I'm a Pens fan; however, I'm also all for getting rid of "dirty" hits, but frankly, I don't think Cooke was in the wrong here (nor on Dipietro the other night).

As far as I'm concerned, the hit on Savard last year wasn't "illegal" either. You can't skate with your head down and Savard had his head down when he got hit from the "blind" side (Eric Lindros anyone?). The fact is, there wouldn't be a blind side if players actually played with their heads on a swivel.

I'm sure many of you disagree...I just needed to get that out ;)

I'm gonna be honest, I didn't saw the hit, so maybe you're right. It's not always the fault of the player who hit. I think the first concussion of Bergeron was his fault cause he was facing the window.

For the Savard hit though, the second it's from the blind side, head down or not, it's illegal. even with the head down you have a blind side, Cooke or not.

I may be wrong here, but if memory serves correctly, there were no rules in effect regarding blind side hits until these recent occurrences (beginning last year is when they implemented this rule...after the Cooke hit).

What about the "accidental" hit from Steckel on Crosby? Doesn't the blind side rule count there as well? Regardless of "intent", shouldn't that have been a penalty as well as a suspension....or was it not a "blind side" hit?

I guess the real problem is consistency with officiating and disciplinary action...

I completely disagree with Jeremy Roenicks comments too by the way about the Cooke incident. I liked Roenick as a player, but can't stand the guy as an "analyst" - He said Tyutin stood there for 3-4 seconds before being hit...what an idiot. It was a bang bang play - Check out the video.

It wasn't brilliant from Tyutin to face the window like this but I got the impression that Cooke lift his feet from the ice before the hit. :-k This can change alot of things, another impression anyone?

I think the suspension mainly stems from him leaving his feet...not necessarily that it was a hit from behind (it wouldn't have been a hit from behind if Tyutin would have "manned up").

So what does the NHL do to prevent this going forward (players from turning their backs on hits)?

In other news...the Pens sent back two players to WB/S of the AHL, which leaves them with 9 forwards for tonights game vs. the Kings. Kinda odd if you ask me. "93.7 The Fan" (Pittsburgh Sports Radio) reported in one of their 20/20 updates that there might be some moves forthcoming (although I don't foresee any newly acquired player(s) playing in tonights game). Not sure how that's going to play out...regardless, it looks like they'll be double shifting some guys tonight - unless Shero somehow strikes gold.

That Bruins-Habs game was nuts! Lots of action of all kinds. The Bruins have been feisty lately. I like seeing them get like that this time of the year. They're really coming together as a team.

Well, they recalled four guys now so I guess you'll have a full squad after all

Darn, I was hoping they would have made a blockbuster trade - with Malkin on IR they freed up quite a bit of cap space.

I'm a little disappointed that Tangradi isn't panning out as quickly as I'd like (he was one of the guys sent back). He just can't seem to stay with the big club.

Several sources (sportsnet.ca, thn.com, and tsn.ca) are all reporting Mike Fisher of the Sens has been traded to Nashville for 1st rounder in 2011 and conditional pick in 2012. Seriously??!! A first rounder??

If the Sens got a first rounder for Fisher, what can the Stars get for Richards??!!

Just watched the highlights of the Bos/Mtl game.... =D>

Not only a first. The conditional pick could become a 2nd rounder depending on the Preds playoff-fortunes.
