The Groups were drawn today for the World Junior Hockey Championship, and Czech Republic has drawn into Group A with Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and France.
The ISS released their Preliminary Rankings for the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, and one IceDogs was ranked!

The top-ranked player was Regina Pats center Sam Reinhart, followed by Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk defenseman Alexandr Uvarov, and Edmonton Oil Kings center Conner Bleackley.
The top-ranked OHL Player is Barrie Colts defenseman Aaron Ekblad (#6).

The top-ranked player was Oakville Rangers center Dale Pike, followed by Lindsay Muskies defenseman Emyle Gauvreau, and Toronto Young Nationals center Ryne Rodgers.

October 5th
The IceDogs remain at home to play host to the Saginaw Spirit. Chris Festarini stopped 24 of the 29 shots he faced, and though the IceDogs led 4-3 with just five minutes left in the game, the Spirit scored three goals to take the victory!

The IceDogs travel to play the Kingston Frontenacs. Backup goaltender Jesse McCullough will get the start in goal for Niagara. Jesse McCullough stopped 26 of the 31 shots he faced, and though the IceDogs scored early in the third period to tie the score 4-4, the Frontenacs scored twice more to take the victory!

The IceDogs return home to play host to the Owen Sound Attack. Chris Festarini stopped 37 of the 42 shots he faced, and the Attack took an early 4-0 lead, and the IceDogs never got going in the loss!

The IceDogs remain at home to play host to the Sudbury Wolves. Chris Festarini stopped 29 of the 32 shots he faced, and though the score was tied 3-3 midway through the second, the IceDogs exploded, scoring six unanswered goals to take the victory!

The IceDogs travel to play the Brampton Battalion. Backup goaltender Jesse McCullough will get the start in goal for Niagara. Jesse McCullough stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced, and the IceDogs took a 2-1 lead midway through the second, and held the Battalion off the rest of the game!

IceDogs winger Ryan Horvat will miss a week with an arm contusion.
Former IceDogs goaltender Mark Visentin is released by the Dallas Stars and is now a free agent.
Belleville Bulls center Brendan Gaunce is named OHL Player of the Week. In 2 games he scored 3 goals, and 4 assists.
October 14th
The IceDogs travel to play the Saginaw Spirit. Chris Festarini stopped 18 of the 19 shots he faced, and the score was 0-0 going into the third, where the teams exploded for five goals. Luckily, Niagara scored four of them for the victory!
