Lowest as in worst or lowest as in position (best)? The wording is a bit confusing in the article I read.

The Jets GM said at the presser that the Sabres would decide what pick to send.
The biggest thing to me is just the knee jerk/hypocritical/jump ship feelings towards Kane everyone his having. Yesterday Kane was an immature bum who needed to be traded, now he's a Sabres god savior? Come on people.

I don't see how his attitude is going to improve by going to a cellar dweller team.

This and this. I hope Nolan is ready for that.bruins72 wrote:I don't see how his attitude is going to improve by going to a cellar dweller team.

Edit: They also traded Enroth to Dallas for Lindback and a third round pick. Seems like they're really going for the #1 overall now. Also, Kessel on the fourth line in Toronto LOL

Depends on how Kane will end up. The guy is still young and could change like Seguin with a change of environment. Bogosian is better than Myers so far IMO, more stable, though I alays believed Myers potential. Stafford's UFA at the end of the year and I think WIN will lose him. The first round pick will be a late one and the two young guys, we don't know yet but they don't have the potential of Kane for example. IMO so far Buffalo seems to have won this one BUT only time will tell for this one.

Re: Official NHL Season 14-15 Thread
Seguin has not changed that much. The difference is Lindy is allowing his personality to come out, and his skill has improved. He is a bit more mature but not much as witnessed by his dumb ass comments on talk radio about Daniel and Henrik with some idiot show in Dallas (Jamie Benn as well). Benn apologized but nothing has come from Seguin. Not that it matters...but just still shows maturity an issue at times.
Evander Kane is not a maturity issue. Evander Kane is an EGO issue. He thinks he is god's gift to the world, and always his had. I actually know the family, and his dad is a headcase too.
Kane growing up and smartening up will be hard for him to do no MATTER where he is in the league. But without a veteran presence it is not going to be easy. And a vet who has done something silly in the past.
EK has not been liked by teammates since he was 9 years old. Nothing new. Some of that is jealousy, some of that is due to his ego, and his attitude. Coaches love him in general to start because he does so much of the right stuff on the ice....bangs, crashes, scores...works....plays scrappy.
But eventually...that coach has to hammer down on him and (in the past his family as well) about his attitude. So far in his life that has worked for EXACTLY .... ONE.....COACH....
DON HAY.
IT remains to be seen whether Ted Nolan can do that for him. Ted clearly has been unable to reach the ridiculous Cody Hodgson, the insanely talented Tyler Myers, and every other Buffalo Sabre, so not sure how he will reach a guy who tends to tell his coaches and teammates to go eff themselves.
That being said...he will score. And score a ton playing with the likes of Connor McDavid (or Eichel) as he grows up and matures just naturally. How much he grows up and matures remains to be seen....and not sure it will ever be to the extent of the other Kane who was a bit of a nutter when he first started out. Do not see that happening.
As for the deal---Pick is the pick of the team finishing highest in the standings....so the weakest first round pick,
Do not kid yourselves and think that Buffalo did not count in McDavid or Eichel opportunity as part of this deal. It increased their chances 2 fold of being worse than Edmonton and the rest of the also-rans.
Tyler Myers has been good in Buffalo this year....he was just ravaged with having to play too many minutes for such a young kid on such a bad team. He will be awesome in the next 2 years with Winnipeg. Lemieux will be a good third line guy. Armia is Zack Kassian without the nasty edge, and not as strong a skater. He has no love of the game of hockey and does not put out a hard effort every night. If he did....kid would be a great power forward one day.
Bogosian---4-5 dman. Nothing to get overly excited about. Good size, decent skater....downgrade potential from Myers big time. But his overall level is steady eddy and will be good for the young guys in Buffalo.
Stafford--filler for this season.
That goalie--no clue.
Bottom line is....this trade is only won by Buffalo if EVANDER KANE decides he is NOT god's gift to the world.
This trade is won by Winnipeg ONLY if Tyler Myers becomes the stud he should become. He is not CHARA....he is more like Bouwmeester but bigger....or if that late first round pick turns into a stud.
To me...both teams did well in this deal for what they need.

Re: Official NHL Season 14-15 Thread
I think the Sequin thing is sort of a bad/different example from Kane. Sequin wanted to be a #1 Center on an offensive team and instead was forced to be a 3/4 line forward on a defensive team. Bruins weren't willing to cater to him and he wasn't willing to adjust (they weren't getting rid of Bergeron or Krejci) but Dallas was willing to cater to Sequin and it worked. For example as Red Wing fan Sequin would have hated playing the Wings as well if he was drafted by them.
Kane seems to have already had that catered to team, he was "the guy" and top lines. It was teammates/coach issues.
One thing that hasn't been touched on by any sites is I think the Sabres were okay trading Myers because of Ras and Zadarov. They know they have two guys in the pipe who could be their 1/2 combo, then Bog is the 3/4 guy, fill in the other 3 as necessary. I think dreaming of a Kane/McDavid/Reinhart line hart line next year was just too much for them to refuse.

Why are you all talking about Buffalo getting McDavid or Eichel? There's a bigger chance they won't get any of those two.

And why JC? They have no more goalie and lost a decent defensemen. They're going to suck really bad till the end of the season and they still have their first round pick, their true one so yeah, they have a pretty good shot at both of those kids. They wouldn't have done those trades it this wasn't their intention. The first pick they're going to give to Winnipeg is one between the 20-30 position at the next draft.

Well they have a big chance to be worse than Edmonton for sure, so they got the most chances at picking first, which means except been REALLY unlucky, they pick top 2 for sure.

Kevin Hayes is going to be a beast, had an amazing game last night which he capped off with a magnificent goal. His potential is massive.

Re: Official NHL Season 14-15 Thread
The more Buffalo does to tank....the better chance they have at them. And since you can only drop 1 spot in the lotto (I think that is still the case)....you finish 30th...you get one.
And Seguin .... talking about his behaviour and attitude in the playoffs where he was out partying in the TOronto playoff series. He did not WANT out of Boston...Boston wanted him out because of his maturity. Hodgson is a comparison save for the fact that Seguin then got it together and started to grow up in Dallas. MATURITY and smarts...doing things professionally not being a moron, taking pictures with all your money, chirping off and doing things that basically hurt your team.
So not comparing on ice stuff with Kane and Seguin at all. Comparing off ice attitude which at beginning of career was similar. Now...Kane has not grown up, and Maybe Seguin has.
That being said...what happened last night to Seguin sucks. Total misfortune for him and for Kulikov...

Predators acquire Franson and Santorelli
Gave up Jokinen, first round pick, and prospect Brendan Leipsic.
I don't know if Preds will resign either but if they do it seems like a steal. I'm always game for trading away first round picks for a proven solid player.

Pretty bad a** trade. Not sure who won here. Pretty solid players and a great pick.
I just hope Jokinen gets his game going in Toronto. He played the wrong role and position in Nashville.

I don't know if it is considered a steal. I think it is a good deal for both teams to be honest. A first round pick for Franson. Leipsic is a 20 year old with potential. And Jokinen, who they will probably look to deal out before the deadline, for Santorelli. I think it is a good deal for both teams.

JOKE--inen...will not be long in Toronto. If they can unload him for a 7th rounder they likely will. He is useless and nowhere near what they need, or what I believe their plan is.
But really who would want him...Dude has played what 1000 NHL games or so....and has played in EXACTLY SIX....6 PLAYOFF GAMES. He has no heart and is useless.
If Leafs get anything more than a 7th for JOKE inen....they are laughing all the way to the bank. But they will likely screw up the pick.
Nashville--What a defense. Weber, Josi, Jones,Ekholm Ellis, Volchenkov. INSANE.....and up front adding in Santorelli with what they have going on AND HAVING THAT AMAZING FREAKING GOALIE>
Can a Stanley Cup really be awarded to a place in TENNESSEE? Is it allowed? God that team looks good.
RIP STEVE MONTADOR. I really hope it is not what I Think it is. But .... man ....either way...35 so sad.
