Habs already traded Sekac for Smith-Pelly of Anaheim. Can't really understand that trade. Seems like MTL gave up pretty quickly on Sekac and Smith-Pelly, even if I don't know him much, doesn't seem to have done much since the beginning of his career.

I think Sekac is the better player and will probably slot right into the Ducks top-6. Will be really interesting to see how he does, think he will be really good for them. DSP seems to have stagnated alot, he has all the physical tools but not sure he can put them together.

New contract for Leddy aswell, 7 years with $5,5AAV.. Very good contract for NYI i must admit, going to be a bargain in a few years.

This is so crazy! http://www.tsn.ca/talent/lindros-files- ... e-1.215863
Lindros suing former referee Paul Stewart for an artice he wrote that apparently makes Lindros look like a dickhead.
Lindros looks more like a dickhead Lindros for suing, than he does from the article, lol
EDIT: Haha, I had to use our excellent wordfilter. Lindros

They retained 50% of the salary though which explains the 2 picks... and Sill is a non factor, pure throw in to make the numbers.philou21 wrote:Pens aquired Winnik for two picks + a player. That's alot.

Yeah but still, he's nothing special IMO. Maybe I just don't know him well enough but I always thought this guy was a decent fourth liner at best.

He's a good bottom-6 guy i would say, not a pure 4th liner...

Wow, Canes got paid... 1st rounder (2015, but 2016 if Kings miss the playoffs this season) and McKeown for Sekera... thats a really good trade for Canes.

I'm shocked all these trades are happening so quick. Teams are desperate to make the playoffs and are trying to get the edge I guess...which explains the high price they're paying.

Yup, which makes the fact that Jets got Tlusty so cheap really weird... A scoring winger on a starved market and they didnt even get a 2nd rounder...dave1927p wrote:I'm shocked all these trades are happening so quick. Re: Official NHL Season 14-15 Thread
I'm guessing it's because of his contract in addition to the fact that he isn't performing all that great so far. Paul Maurice is a big fan of Tlusty...which is why CArolina got him in the first place from TO.Peter_Doherty wrote:Yup, which makes the fact that Jets got Tlusty so cheap really weird... Yeah, he went downhill after the lockout but he is a good player with some skills that can be a difference maker, no matter his form i think it was really cheap. Only thing i question is if Jets has the center to get him going, im not so sure.

Re: Official NHL Season 14-15 Thread
Tlusty is a lazy SOB.
Well at least I won' t waste time watching TSN and Sportsnet on Monday.
Was not going to any way...because with the exception of Sekera...none of these guys are going to make a difference to any team. They are all very average players, that are a dime a dozen. Not exciting to me at all.
Talk to me when someone who can score or is a top 3 dman or a non back up goalie gets dealt.
Sekac-Pelly both average prospects. Neither gonna light it up.
Sekera can play and good move by LA
Winnik--LOL. Useless but will score if gets on a line with Sid...a bit. Not much.
Bergenheim-USE//////LESS 3rd liner who skates. Has great wheels, nothing else.
Tlusty--god it is sad he might be the 2nd best player in the deals so far.

I like the move from Floridas point of view, they are giving it a real shot without sacrificing anything they cant do without. From Jagrs point of view though i don't really understand this, he must have had better teams that wanted him for a cup run? Nice to end it (?) down in the sun though =)

Nice for Florida. But I was hoping Jagr would have moved to a "Stanley" team.
Well it's not hopeless. Looks like FLA is battling BOS for the final playoff spot in the west.
The Vezina battle is very intersting between Price and Rinne. I just hope Rinne wins it.

Re: Official NHL Season 14-15 Thread
What can you say? I actually think it's a win/win for both teams somehow... CBJ is a low budget team and can't really afford to pay that kind of money to a player thats up in the press box every game, while Leafs can since they have infinite money. Add to that the fact that CBJ plays a style of hockey that should suit Clarkson so MAYBE he can find some kind of form and actually contribute (no, dont think he will score 30 goals or anything but maybe he can become a 15-15/20-20 3rd liner?)
I see the logic in this move even though its clearly crazy.

Even there, I can't understand how someone can want, even with cap space, a guy that is best season is 30 goals with ONLY 46 pts at almost 6 millions.

It's better then having someone with as big of a contract who can never play again most likely... CBJ just cant afford paying someone to sit in the press box, they are a low budget team...

finally it pays for my team to be rich! The final loophole that a financially rich club can use to it's advantage. This sort of move would of never happened with the teacher's pension!

Re: Official NHL Season 14-15 Thread
Best thought I heard on Clarkson deal. Remember how much people ripped the deal that Brian Campbell had in a hockey market like Chicago, and how he was not a real top pairing dman and pay him so much for so little on the ice? How much do you hear about that now? How much more does he really do?
Answers: Every 2 seconds, absolutely never, not much. And well...he is on the same deal he was on in Chicago, and now he is just fine thank you very much, and allowed to perform at his level and help his team perhaps make the playoffs for the first time in what? Well not forever, but you get the point. Same thing could easily happen with Clarkson...play his third line role on a non-cap team and get a few points, and people will stop over dramatizing the fact that he is NOT a 30 goal scorer even though he did it once. Best thing that could have ever happened to him. Get out of the limelight and play his game. If you watch what he does...he is actually a pretty darn good third line guy....but TORONTO and David Nonis thought he was a top line power forward. I actually feel somewhat bad for him, save he got a ton of $ because a FEW teams ... not just the LOAFS thought he was the next Cam Neely.

He what do you know, we actually agree on something at last
))) I mean, it's not Clarksons fault he got the contract, so never understood why he got so much hate.
