Playing around with some card ideas

Post by mac-the-mouth »

Hey guys,

I've been meaning to get into this for a while, but I haven't had the time. I started working on a design for a player card and this is what I've come up with. My only concern is that sized down, the outline and text might be tough to read and some of the details get lost. This is a work in progress, so any thoughts and ideas are welcome.

Cheers.

Personally I think that looks awesome! Good work mate, well apart from the fact it's Sidney Crosby :-p

Would love it if an NHL player card pack was made with the new jerseys.

Are you planning on having colors according to team, or what?

Looks very tasty, for sure. 8-)

Looks great, but I'd rather have it without the team color outline...if you do a trade then it looks not that good imo

Good point. Then again, jerseys change too, but that hasn't been a problem either... :-k

Yep, good points, all.

I need to think more on the color. It may just be finding some colors that work well as a standard, rather than matching each players team colors. I definitely understand how using team colors can quickly be rendered moot if a guy gets traded or moves to another team, but I also like the idea of some color variety.

But thanks for the feedback, it's most definitely appreciated.

That looks absolutely fantastic =P~

Maybe you should post a version that is the correct size for EHM. That will allow us to see exactly what it will look like ingame and we'll be able to see if the text is too small like you mentioned.

Alessandro makes a good point about the team colours. As much it at looks great with the team colours, they are going to be out of date when players get traded. I don't know whether these are any good, but here's some suggestions for you:

* A neutral colour that blends in with the standard EHM skin. Maybe some blue colour or perhaps something that contrasts with EHM's skin?

* The colour could match the player's county flag. You could have either several colours for each flag (e.g. red & white for Canadians, red, white, blue for USA, etc) or just a single colour for each flag (e.g. red for Canadians, blue for USA, etc).

* A different colour for each position (e.g. G, Defence or Forward - or even individual positions: G, RD, LD, RW, LW, C).

By the way, try contacting Devils88 (a member on these forums). He might have a list of useful sites to get sources for action pictures.

About the team colours, i mostly agree with Tasku... When the player gets traded, the jersey he has on the pic is no longer the good one, and i don't think anyone had any issue with that :-k So if it looks good with the team colours outlines, you should keep it this way, IMHO.
