Does anyone else find the process asolutly ridiculous?
Just had a world class scout from Sweden turn me and my $60k a year NHL deal down for a 4k part-time job at Almtuna in the Swedish second division. Same with a quality Russian coach, turned me down for a 6k part-time deal in Russia when I offered 10 times that. :thdn:

Some people just don't want to leave their lives behind to move to a different continent. The cultural change is just too much for some. Plus, in real life, some coaches (not just in hockey) find that their coaching style or their strengths are best suited towards players from a certain age group or level of play. For example, I know that legendary Boston University coach, Jack Parker, has been offered NHL coaching gigs in the past but has turned them down to stay at BU.

You are right in a way but in EHM a European coach or scout will never go to the NHL unless he doesn't recive a single offer from his home nation, that isn't realistic at all.

With european staff, it's not easy to sign them.
But it seems easier if your team is successful, high reputated or one of the original six teams.
Playing with the Red Wings i could always sign more european staff than with other teams.

Some hidden attributes are important, too.
For example if one has high ambition he would rather sign a job as general manager
than as your assistant coach - even if you offer him more money.

I'm always signing Swedish coaching staff. There's some real quality there. Of course, it's easiest to go after the unemployed ones though.

In my current game, the Saint John challenge, I've got a Swedish coach (Karl-Oskar Ekholm), a Swedish assistant coach (Conny Norberg), and a Finnish assistant coach (Tom Nyberg). I've also got an Austrailian assistant coach (Garth Burke) but I wonder if he was just born there but living in North America?

Head Coach: Canadian
Assistant Coach: 4 Canadian and 1 American
Scounts: 2 Swedes, 9 Canadians, 1 Russian, 1 Finn, 1 American

Same thing can be said of Red Berenson at Michigan. He even won the Jack Adams in 1981 coaching the Blues. Many teams have tried to get him to return to the pro ranks, but Mr. Berenson is content where he is.

Not everyone associated with hockey has the desire to play/work in the NHL. Not everyone is of a global mind (the majority probably aren't). Most Americans wouldn't consider working & living outside the US, no matter how much money was at stake. From personal experience, that is the status quo world wide. While I will agree that there are some strange decisions made by players and staff, EHM is a game. At least at this stage, consumer level technology does not exist for simulation of the human condition. Compared to other sports simulation games, EHM doesn't do a bad job. It's just one of those things that need to be accepted to enjoy playing EHM.

Yep. And some guys (Brian Kilrea) just love to develop the kids. Coaching in the NHL is not the reward for them. Seeing guys get sooo much better and making it is. Don Hay has figured out that is where he gets a big rush too. HE was offered a job last summer in the show and turned it down this time.

I think this is the correct thread for my first question at TBL.

I know you can have up to 3 physios but for some reason I only get 2. I noticed I had only two when I was looking for the reason I had so many injuries. Then I found a good match, offered a contract and he accepted. When I tried to confirm the deal that little message box popped up saying there was no room.

has anyone else run across this being limited below the standard staff limits?

I think you have already 3 physios you just need to move the slider on the right a bit and you will see the last one. :-p

God i hate it when that happens, and when you draft EU players who simply refuses to leave... like me first pick 2015 who wont leave Sweden and Frölunda and poff now my exclusive rights are gone... bah
