Good Enforcers?
Hey folks,
so I'm looking for a decent/good FORWARD enforcer who is positionally respectable if possible? or just more enforcers... I only know Raitus Ivanans, Derek Boogard, George Parros, and George Laraque. I usually have one forward set to fight(Parros or Laraque, although this game, Boogard), and one defenseman, usually I like to use Sean O'Donnell or Matt Greene. I know O'Donnell isn't exactly an enforcer, but he isn't afraid to throw down either... and Matt Greene is just a big body who hits well and is strong but doesn't have potential aboutve 3rd pairing D-man, so he is no big loss in a pentalty.
My problem with the forward Enforcers: they don't have reasonable skill for me, I set my lines to all have equal ice time to make sure my prospects play enough to develop, so even with an enforcer on the 4th line, his skill drops the line he is on usually to be poor both defensively and offensively... So I'd at least like an enforcer who is respectable as a player... Like a 10 for pokecheck and positioning, or a 10 for stickhandling and passing... just not a liability.
Any suggestions? Even so, just throw out your enforcer it will help my future games.
And yes I am a homer, I know Kings & Ducks players a lot better than the other 28 teams, so offer away.

Well on my Sharks game I use Jody Shelley, I've had him on the 4th line mostly and he usually puts up 10+ points, even had a little over 20 points! While not a super skater, he has decent stats for an enforcer.
Also I like to use Mitch Fritz, just because of his name
and he is quite large and I've even had him on the all rookie team one Year...I found that quite funny.
Others I have tried that are good Colton Orr, Ryan Hollweg (though not a heavyweight) Chris Neil is also a handy player though at 1m is a bit expensive to use as an enforcer. Rob Davison is alright too but I don't like to use defenseman as enforcers.
I've heard some people like using Godard. But I usually have Shelley and then develop Fritz until Shelley retires or isn't filling his role in the team.

thank you, yeah Chris Neil is a bit (carey)Pricey for an enforcer but does have some definite skill. The guy I like best is Ryan Hollweg, well rounded enough not to be a liability, and very cheap(525k). Fortunately he's headed to free agency in a month(july 08, Kings game) so I'll definitely pick him up. a big
for the response.

I rarely see a decent enough enforcer to draft, so the closest I've gotten to developing one is Mitch Fritz, he is a huge man, and he had decent attributes, but cannot skate so I just put him on an intense skating schedule and I had him fill in on Thorntons line and he put up 30 points while up there, so he proved he can play.

Another good one is Donald Brashear. He wins almost every fight in this game.
He is not the youngest but in his final years still a threat.
Maybe you should consider to match lines so that you have your 4th line against the opponent's 4th. That way your enforcers will play an avg. of 8 minutes and will face some other enforcers more than talented players.

Franck: I just set 5 to be allowed and/or encouraged, and it stuck and were allowed to in game, and after the game it was still set to fight.
Higher scoring games (on both sides, even with Luongo, Lungqvist or MAF, they won't be winning the Vezina) -- it's not just an enforcer thing, I just like to play a very offensive game.

i like to use boogard because he has decent stats although hes not much in the skating department. Odd though in my one game playing on my fourth line he had about 30 points while being second in pims so apparently he does have some offensive flair in him. the two years before he had 20+ points as well

Boogyman in my game is about to break the record for PIMs in a single season, he might reach 600 PIMs easy... unless i switch over to my other forward who is more of a skilled forward.. ummmm do you think i could train boogyman into a defenceman spot... not like i'd want to kill my killer d tho. i have 4 top 10 defenceman and 2 good up and comers... meaning i have a lacky pricey forwards... my highest paid forward is herrik zetterberg at 2.75m. most are 450-990.. all my cap is put into d and goalies
