Sorry I didn't reply to this sooner but it's with some rumours not actual news just yet. The Stralman deal seems like a really good pick up for the Flames might be a second line defensive pairing in about 2 or 3 years maybe a first pairing if Dion or Bouwmeester jump ship. Still very solid without giving up alot.
Also the Bolts are in talks with Alex Tanguay as well as Petr Sykora. The Bolts freed up $2.33 million over the next 3 years by releasing Vaclav Prospal earlier in the week. Tanguay took a real nose dive after leaving Colorado 3rd line probably. And Sykora IMO is a probably a 3rd liner maybe 2nd with the Bolts. It's really weird how Sykora is still a UFA considering he's still a good player and is only 33.

Doubt that. Zubov will be 41 by the time his contract in the KHL will run out.BaerXIII wrote:Well on Zubov he might turn out like Jagr did this year get in really great shape on the much larger ice surface and possibly make a comeback to the NHL thought I don't really see him doing that it's always a small glimmer of hope.

The Blackhawks are again being questioned over contracts. This time Marian Hossa's deal is being investigated.

They have a spotlight on the retirement loophole. Although it certainly seems to be bending the rules, I don't see how they've broken any. The DiPietro, Zetterberg, Datsyuk & Franzen (& I'm sure there are others) deals haven't been looked at. The CBA says that these deals are legal so they should be vaild. I'm sure the hole will be closed in the next CBA. Simple way of doing things: Cap hit = that year's salary
***EDIT*** I read the NHL's press release. The NHL is investigating whether the Hawks and Hossa discussed his retiring prior to the contract's expiration. This is the violation of the cap & CBA that they have their panties in a twist about. Maybe Tallon is feeding this to the league as retribution for his firing. Somebody dropping a dime is about the only way they could prove this happened and thus nullifying the deal and bringing sanctions against the Hawks.

I don't know how true this is. But The Sharks are apparently close to making a deal with Ottawa for Dany Heatley. But they need a 3rd team involved... Could be an interesting trade...

Teppo Numminen retires
. He said to Finnish magazine "Suomen Kuvalehti" that he can't play full season anymore cause it's very hard in his age and last spring he was very tired and he skates much slower than in autumn. So Numminen wouldn't play in Vancouver Olympics at 2010.
That's very, very, very, very sad
, but i understand his reason of retiring.

That's very, very, very, very sad

Still small glimmer of hope since Chelios still wants to play and he's like 47. So compared to that 41 seems reasonablegetzlaf15 wrote:Doubt that. Also on the Zherdev front why the hell would the Rangers walk away from him he's going to be an amazing player maybe on the Lecavailer level not quite Ovechkin/Crosby but still someone with the skills you build towards the future with.

I guess but if I we're a team I'd take the gamble on. Hell if Jeff Finger can get $3.5 million and no potential there should be a few teams willing to line up for him. Would like to see him land with the Caps be maybe a second line right winger.Hypnotist wrote:The issue with Zherdev is ambition and desire, not skill. Zherdev can score a hat trick or be -3 and no points. The problem is you never know which Zherdev is going to show up. He's a lot like Fedorov (the Original Enigmatic Russian) was.
And Patrick Eaves signed a one-year deal with the Red Wings $500,000.

It's awesome he'll be back for another season and at least this time the deals done before their half way through the season, now if only we can get Mats Sundin to make up his mind.Jypfan92 wrote:Brendan Shanahan make new contract with New Jersey Devils. That's nice that he continues, cause Teppo Numminen and Jeremy Roenick retires and cause Sergei Zubov goes to KHL (hope that he come back to NHL).

Rumours are that the Ducks have traded a conditional pick to get Goaltender Justin Pogge from Toronto. The pick being decided dependant on Pogges success.
I like Pogge, he looks like a future top goalie, and the Ducks desperately need one of them, J-P Levasseur is our only prospective goalie, and he's not set the world alight.

Most people would say to that 'Oh he's a bad influence on the other Blackhawks and a bad person.' but in my opinion it just makes him bad assphilou21 wrote:Patrick Kane and is brother been arrest for steal and beat a taxi driver. darn what he is thinking? Maybe Sergei Kostitsyn bad influence.More details to come.....

Kane Arrest
And TSN during sportscentre said it was over $0.20

I doubt it would amount to that as well. If anything he'll probably pay medical, punitive, and replace the glasses. But it is a bad situation should he be convicted.Hypnotist wrote:It probably won't amount to much, but if he gets a felony conviction it could put a serious damper on the Hawks season and possibly long term future. Kane may run into issues getting work visas to play in Canada with a felony record.
