My #2 centre is an absolute Mcguirean Monster but he's terrible at faceoffs. I've had him for 4 years now and his faceoffs have never gotten about 10/20.
That's a good question but i think you should put him some tactic training for the faceoff. Since win faceoff is one of the most important thing to have if you wanna do your tactic, i think faceoff should be a tactic training.
I'm pretty sure it's def. skill.
I'm pretty sure you are correct. I suppose you could always set up a practice with both Offensive Skill and Defensive Skill areas set to Intensive.

Ok... So this is sort of a player development question...

Does anybody when a player stops growing, Height and Weight wise? Is there a fixed amount a player will grow by each year until a certain age?

For example, I've created a few prospects into my DB (Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Adam Larsson, etc.) and i don't know how small and how heavy i should set them. As they will be 14 when the game starts and i don't want them ending up 6'6" 300 lbs when they are due to be drafted...

After you've created them, start the game, save and go to saved-game editor. There you can see their final height/weight. ;)

Really? I didn't know if would do that. I thought the player's height and weight growth was fluid.

Just wondering for player developing for OHL, QMJHL and such.... If you say have a rookie camp at beginning of august and then invite them back for the main camp if they dont make ur main roster is it best to have say a few of them be on ur main roster or the ones u think could be call ups during the season have all of those players development on ur development club or just let them play in Junior A for the full season?

I would go with junior, allows them to build confidence and gain skill....but it all depends kind of, you do have better coaches with the NHL, but I normally send them back until they can't go to Junior anymore then do 2 years of AHL before they even play in the NHL.

i don't sign any Canadian juniors until they're 20 and i don't sign any NCAA players until they done with college, Europeans are not signed until they need to be signed. this way they develoo and i can develop the talent i sign or already have.
the first set is the ECHL if they show they can play there then we move them to the AHL if they reach 8.50-9+ then they move the nhl roster.

this way they reach they're full or almost full POT.

ok, can't remember if it was original EHM or EHM2005 but ... there was a chance of your players potential improving in the off season (or getting worse) ... is that still the same? ie ... is that what the ""turning" heads in training camp message means?

I believe the "turning heads" news item in training camp is just something you get when a young player has a really good scrimmage game. You don't get those for pre-season games, just the scrimmages where you play against your own team.

I don't know if their potential can change. I think that's determined by the PA value setup in the database.

The most frustrating thing about player developement in EHM2007 is having to micromanage the team's practices and keep track of player skills (which I've tried several spreadsheets doing, from 3-6 times a year).

It would have been nice if you could just leave it on allowing the coach to run practices and players developed reasonably. Even with micromanaging the teams practices it still seems to be a crapshoot as to whether a player develops (even when they have high PA, Determination and Workrate).

I've always left head coach take control of pratcice, but some defensive attributes and some physical didn't develop properly, so for my latest dynasty i manually control practice. I leave goalies at goalie practice, don't change anything, all other players at general, where i have everything at medium except no goalie or new position change.

Now lately i've changed for my top 6 forwards to offensive practice where its same as general (all medium) with offense intensive and shooting intensive, while defenceman have defensive practice with tactics intensive and defense intensive. Now i don't have much experience with this other than about 7 seasons with general and last 2 seasons with offensive, defensive and general training so i'm hoping my players don't get too tired and underpreform.

The only exception i have is Ryan Wilson who gets similar to defensive pratice but conditioning is intensive too. For offseason i put all on fitness with everything even goaltending at intensive

I play my prospects Red Wings-style and bring them along slowly and patiently. Whether I'm drafting first overall or 30th, I let teams with CHL rights play with their junior teams as long as they can, then send them to the AHL or ECHL for at least a year. As for other leagues, if I draft a U.S. college or European player with CHL rights, I usually try to sign them and send them to their CHL team. Otherwise I let them finish up wherever they are and sign them only when my rights to them are about to expire.

If, after that, they're doing well in exhibitions, I give them a shot with the main squad.

This seems to work pretty well; it's given me a couple of reliable defensive defencemen I didn't expect to amount to much.
